Projects must benefit domestic companion cats and fit within the budget limit. Applicants using client-owned animals must show adequate institutional caseload and humane use approvals.

Who can apply: Registered 501(c)(3) organizations (municipalities considered in specific circumstances), mission/services aligned with Foundation focus areas, provides services within Northwest Community Bank communities. The Foundation does not fund political organizations/candidates, activities for religious purposes contingent on religious participation, individual endeavors, organizations using a fiscal agent, or other excluded categories listed on the Foundation page.

Who can apply: Nonprofit organizations. For 2026, eligibility is restricted to organizations that received Bissell Foundation funding in one or two of the three prior years (2023, 2024, 2025). Organizations funded in all three of those years are not eligible. Applicants should be primarily serving Hartford and/or be led by members of prioritized communities.
