Who can apply: Applicants must be US or US-territory organizations with current 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status, an established artistic, administrative, and fiscal track record of at least two previous seasons, minimum operating expenses of $150,000 excluding in-kind support, and at least eight ticketed professional performances annually in the US or US territories. Dancers must be paid. Non-professional community dance organizations, fiscally sponsored organizations, individuals, and organizations seeking project, capital, or endowment support are not eligible. The Foundation does not support dance education, schools, or studios outside New York City. Current financial statements are required; organizations with expenses above $1,000,000 must submit audited financial statements.

Who can apply: Applicants should be nonprofit charitable organizations and must provide an IRS letter designating nonprofit charitable status, a current budget, and a recent annual report. Organizations based nationwide or internationally may apply, although the foundation has a particular interest in projects in Laguna Beach and Southern California. Proposals must address specific objectives, include a timeline, describe anticipated impact, and suggest how results could be replicated or have broader impact. Administrative costs, salaries, endowment requests, and general operating support are not eligible.

Universities and religious institutions may apply when requests serve a charitable community need. Only one proposal per organization may be considered each calendar year. Grants generally do not support ongoing annual or operating needs, salaries and fringe, marketing, fundraising-event sponsorships, endowment building, political purposes, loans or assistance to individuals, or activities completed before the Foundation's decision date.
