For purposes other than scholarships or fellowships, grants are made only to organizations qualified as Section 501(c)(3) charities. The Foundation does not fund loans, grants-in-aid, or fellowships directly to individuals, does not fund political or propaganda purposes, and does not cover indirect costs.
Who can apply: Nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations based in and primarily serving Chicago residents; youth must be in meaningful decision-making roles; the work must align with the Foundation’s power-building continuum and demonstrate active coalitions of young leaders.
Who can apply: Must be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit or apply with a fiscal sponsor. Projects should align with systems-change work in civic engagement and democracy.
Who can apply: Accepts applications from nonprofits for projects that fit within the geographic and strategic boundaries of the grant area. Does not provide direct support to individuals.
