IN RECOGNITION OF THE SIGNIFICANT AND ENDURING CONTRIBUTIONS OF OLDER AND RETIRED WORKERS TO THE LIFE OF THIS NATION, THE IMPORTANCE OF MAINTAINING THEIR ACTIVE PARTICIPATION IN ALL ASPECTS OF LOCAL, STATE, AND NATIONAL AFFAIRS, THE UNIQUE AND COMPLEX ISSUES THAT AFFECT THEIR WELL-BEING, AND THE OFTEN INADEQUATE OPPORTUNITIES FOR PARTICIPATING IN THE POLICY DECISIONS THAT AFFECT THEM NATIONWIDE, THE ALLIANCE'S MISSION IS TO PROMOTE THE SOCIAL WELFARE OF THE PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES, THE CREATION AND MAINTENANCE OF A STRONG AND EFFECTIVE ORGANIZATION TO REPRESENT THE NEEDS, VIEWS AND INTERESTS OF OLDER AND RETIRED WORKERS, AND TO GENERATE LIFELONG OPPORTUNITIES FOR ACTIVE CITIZENSHIP, EDUCATION, AND AWARENESS.
