Arts & Culture Grants

Who can apply: Organizations may request general operating or program support. Access for Audiences applicants must have at least three years of experience providing free exhibitions, performances, events, or arts education experiences. Access for Artists applicants must provide free or low-cost professional support such as studio space, specialized equipment, workshops, or career services. Applicants must meet the Foundation's eligibility criteria and provide evidence of 501(c)(3) status or use an eligible fiscal sponsor.

Deadline: Applications open August 15-September 15 annually; deadline is September 15 at 5:00pm EST, extended to the next business day when necessary. Grantees are notified in December.

Environmental Grant Cycle

Who can apply: Organizations must have an IRS determination letter (no pending status). Fiscal sponsors allowed but must be located within the five boroughs. Organizations may apply only once per year and only in one category. Organizations with budgets over $1M must provide recent audited financial statement or signed 990 not older than 18 months. Organizations with budgets $10M or larger should apply for a program-specific grant rather than general operating support.

Deadline: Environmental cycle — April (annual). Exact deadline posted in the grant portal for each year.

Human Services Grant Cycle

Who can apply: Organizations should typically be small to mid-size organizations serving New York City. Applicants must meet the Foundation's eligibility criteria and provide evidence of 501(c)(3) status or use an eligible fiscal sponsor. Educational organizations should apply under the category matching their mission and program content.

Deadline: Applications open December 15-January 15 annually; deadline is January 15 at 5:00pm EST, extended to the next business day when necessary. Proposal review occurs in February and grantees are announced in April.
