Responsive Grants
Who can apply: Applicants must be qualifying tax-exempt nonprofit organizations under sections 501(c)(3), 509(a)(1), or 509(a)(2) of the Internal Revenue Code; serve residents of Cameron, Hidalgo, Starr, or Willacy counties; demonstrate positive health effects within the funding area; and not have received Responsive or Collaborative funding in the previous 12 months. Organizations may submit one proposal per cycle and cannot be currently funded. The Foundation may fund new projects, operating expenses, multi-year requests, capital purchases, indirect costs up to 10%, matching funds, and certain staff positions with a sustainability plan. Individuals, event sponsorships, endowments, debt retirement, operational deficits, capital campaigns, and insurance premiums are not funded.
Deadline: Applications are accepted twice annually. Spring cycle: opens February 1 and is due April 1. Fall cycle: opens August 1 and is due October 1. The grant-cycle page also lists the next cycle as opening December 1 and applications due February 1 by 5:00 PM, with awards announced in August.
