The Ira DeCamp Foundation makes highly targeted, large-scale grants focused on civic and community improvement work. Its sole reported grant is a single six-figure gift to the Fund for the City of New York for general support, suggesting a preference for supporting nonprofit capacity and public-service initiatives that strengthen urban communities.
Concentrated giving: a single large, unrestricted grant rather than many small awards; appears to favor one-off major investments in established civic organizations.
The Ira Decamp Foundation Xxxxx2009’s giving is built around a small number of large awards to New York City institutions, with the Fund for the City of New York receiving its two largest recent grants: $385,000 in 2025 and $365,000 in 2026 for general support. That pattern points to a funder that backs civic and community-serving organizations at meaningful scale rather than spreading resources broadly. Recent grants also include $200,000 to Per Scholas Inc in the Bronx and $192,327 to Betances Health Center in New York, both general support awards. Across the recent-grants list, the foundation’s recipients cluster around health, workforce development, family services, and public-interest civic work. The Foundation’s reported active programs align with that pattern, including support for foster care services, community health centers and primary care providers, and workforce development organizations in the New York City metropolitan area. Its grantmaking is concentrated enough to show repeated support for certain institutions over multiple years, including several large awards to the same nonprofits. The result is a portfolio that emphasizes institutional strength, service delivery, and city-focused programs rather than broad issue diversification.
In community health, the foundation has funded multiple providers in New York City, including $175,000 to Community Health Project Inc in 2026 and $150,000 to Primary Care Development Corp in 2024 for general support. It also gave $150,000 to Center for Comprehensive Health Practice in 2023, showing a clear interest in organizations that extend primary care access and related services. In workforce development, the foundation awarded $150,000 to Year Up Inc in 2023 and $150,000 to Workforce Professionals Training Institute in 2024, consistent with its stated support for job training and placement infrastructure. Child welfare and family services appear as another strand: Center for Family Representation received $160,000 in 2023 and $150,000 in 2024. The grant list also includes $125,000 to Cec Stuyvesant Cove Inc Dba Solar One in Long Island City, indicating some support for place-based community organizations beyond direct service systems.
The foundation’s recent grants fall in the upper middle of its stated size band, with a p25 of $50,000, median of $75,000, and p75 of $100,000, while the recent-grants list shows many awards at $125,000 to $200,000 and above. Its pattern is concentrated rather than broad: several recipients appear in multiple years, including the Fund for the City of New York, Center for Family Representation, Primary Care Development Corp, Goodwill Industries of Greater NY, Montefiore Medical Center, and New York Presbyterian Fund Inc. The foundation is a regular funder, not a DAF, and it does not make program-related investments or grants to individuals. The available grant records point to general support as the typical funding mode.
