Hearst Foundations General Grantmaking (Culture, Education, Health, Social Service)

Who can apply: Organizations must be based in the United States, be registered as 501(c)(3) organizations and provide an IRS determination letter, and generally have audited expenses of at least $2 million. Organizations undergoing leadership transitions or with new leadership in place for less than one year are not eligible. The Foundations prioritize well-established organizations with demonstrable impact, sustainability, regional or national reach, and significant demographic or geographic constituencies. Proposals for festivals, tours, conferences, workshops, seminars, media production, publications, advocacy or public policy research, fundraising events, seed money, pilot programs, program-related investments and certain other excluded purposes are not funded. Organizations must generally wait three years after receiving a grant before reapplying; declined organizations must wait one year. Only one application may be submitted per institution.

Deadline: Year-round, rolling application; there are no deadlines.
