The Syde Hurdus Foundation gives exclusively to international relief and development causes, channeling support to medical/humanitarian NGOs. All recorded funding (two grants totaling $200,000) went to Resurge International, indicating a focused interest in global surgical or medical charity work. The foundation appears to fund a small number of specialized international organizations rather than a broad portfolio of domestic charities.
Highly concentrated: few, relatively large grants directed to a single repeat grantee; focused international giving rather than broad, diversified granting.
Syde Hurdus Foundation Inc C/o Reedsmith-gilberti has repeatedly backed Resurge International, including three grants of $100,000, $100,000, and $90,000 across 2023, 2024, and 2025. That recurring support points to a clear interest in medical humanitarian work, especially global reconstructive surgery and relief-oriented health services. Beyond that core pattern, the foundation has also funded cultural, hospital, and community-serving organizations, suggesting a portfolio built around general charitable support rather than a single operating program. Its grants reach a mix of national nonprofits and local institutions. American Academy in Rome received three grants of $50,000 each across 2023, 2024, and 2025, while Walnut Street Theatre received multiple $40,000 awards in 2023, 2024, and 2025. Other recipients include Memorial Sloan-kettering, NYU Winthrop Hospital, Philadelphia Museum of Art, and United Against Poverty. The breadth of recipient types contrasts with the concentration of the largest awards, which have gone to a small set of organizations over multiple years.
One clear theme is health care and medical relief. Resurge International received $100,000 in 2024 and $90,000 in 2025 for general charitable support, aligning with the foundation’s documented focus on international reconstructive surgery and medical relief. A second theme is institutional support for arts and culture. The foundation gave $50,000 to American Academy in Rome in each of 2023, 2024, and 2025, and $40,000 to Walnut Street Theatre in 2023, 2024, and 2025. Community health and social support also appear in the grant list. Treasury Coast Community Health received $25,000 in 2023 and $25,000 in 2025, while United Against Poverty was awarded $25,000 in 2023 and $30,000 in 2025. These awards sit alongside gifts to hospitals and youth-serving organizations.
Typical grants cluster in the mid-five-figure range, with p25 at $10,000, a median of $15,000, and p75 at $20,000. The recent record shows repeated awards to the same organizations across multiple years, including multi-year support patterns rather than one-off gifts. The foundation’s giving is described as general charitable support, and the grants are responsive in style rather than tied to a public application program. It does not fund individuals and does not make program-related investments.
