The Neal C Nichols Family Foundation concentrates its giving on faith-based media and education, local healthcare, and veteran-focused services. Grants skew toward Christian organizations (broadcasters and private Christian schools), major local hospitals/medical programs, and military veteran support groups, with many recipients receiving multiple awards. The foundation appears to favor organizations in the DC–Northern Virginia–Maryland region and a mix of program and general charitable support.
A $1,000,000 grant to The Christian Broadcasting Network stands out in the Neal C Nichols Family Foundation Inc’s recent giving and points to a clear pattern: the foundation backs Christian media alongside education, healthcare, and veteran services. The largest awards recur over multiple years rather than appearing as one-off gifts, with The Christian Broadcasting Network also receiving $195,000 in 2023 and $100,000 in 2025. Evergreen Christian School in Leesburg, Virginia, follows a similar multi-year pattern, with grants of $150,000 in 2024, $125,000 in 2023, and $120,000 in 2025. Beyond those larger commitments, the foundation’s recent grants show support for regional health and service organizations, including Capital Caring - the George Pakidis Advanced Cardiac Care Program in Falls Church, Virginia, which received $100,000 in each of 2023, 2024, and 2025. The portfolio also includes support for veteran-serving groups, private Christian schools, and faith-based ministries, suggesting a donor that favors repeat relationships and familiar institutional partners. The legal name on file is NEAL C NICHOLS FAMILY FOUNDATION INC, and its annual grants total $3,032,250.
In Christian media, the foundation gave $1,000,000 to The Christian Broadcasting Network in 2024, following a $195,000 grant in 2023 and another $100,000 grant in 2025. That three-year sequence shows sustained support for evangelistic broadcasting rather than a single campaign grant. In independent Christian education, Evergreen Christian School received $150,000 in 2024, $125,000 in 2023, and $120,000 in 2025. The Harbour School in Annapolis, Maryland, also appears in the recent grants list with $50,000 in 2023 and $50,000 in 2024. Healthcare is another clear lane: Capital Caring - the George Pakidis Advanced Cardiac Care Program received $100,000 in each of 2023, 2024, and 2025, while Virginia Hospital Center received $60,000 in 2023, 2024, and 2025. The foundation also funded veteran support through Travis Manion Foundation and Willing Warriors.
Typical grant size sits at $10,500 at the 25th percentile, $25,000 at the median, and $55,000 at the 75th percentile. That spread sits alongside several repeated awards that recur across 2023, 2024, and 2025, indicating ongoing relationships with selected grantees rather than isolated support. The foundation is a family foundation, and it does not make program-related investments or grants to individuals. The recent grants list shows charitable support rather than a separate application channel.
