The McKay Family Foundation is Compelled by Legacy to Empower the Most Vulnerable People to Thrive
The most visible pattern in Mckay Family Foundation’s recent giving is repeated support for local organizations serving vulnerable people in Lane County, Oregon. In 2024 and 2023, the foundation returned to the same community groups more than once, including Food for Lane County, Relief Nursery, and Every Child Lane County, with grants that ranged from $20,000 to $35,000 in the recent list. That repetition suggests a funder that stays with organizations over time rather than moving quickly from one grantee to the next. The foundation’s public grant records point to a broad human-services portfolio rooted in education, youth services, homelessness, poverty outreach, disability assistance, and medical and mental health services. It also supports program work and operating costs, with grants described as program support across recent awards. The recent list shows funding across early learning, family support, shelter-related services, and community care. Organizations such as Square One Villages and Center for Community Counseling appear alongside food access, youth development, and disability-focused providers, showing a local grantmaker working across connected needs within the same region.
Education and early learning are part of the foundation’s core portfolio. Recent grants include $20,000 to Parenting Now for program support and $10,000 to Circle of Friends School for program support. The focus list also names early learning, pre-K readiness, parent education, and K-12 education supports. Youth services are another recurring theme. Mckay Family Foundation gave $15,000 to Hosea Youth Services for program support and $30,000 to Every Child Lane County for program support. Its topic list includes youth prevention, basic needs, substance abuse, advocacy, counseling, and shelter. The foundation also funds housing and basic-needs work. Recent grants include $20,000 to Square One Villages and $15,000 to Eugene Mission Inc, both for program support. Poverty outreach and homelessness interventions are named priorities in the foundation’s grant program descriptions. Medical, mental health, and disability-related services round out the pattern. Awards include $20,000 to Center for Community Counseling, $15,000 to Volunteers in Medicine, and $20,000 to Pearl Buck Center, all listed as program support.
