Keren Yud Mem primarily funds Orthodox Jewish communal life, directing multi-year unrestricted support to synagogues, yeshivas/mesivtas, and Hasidic or Jerusalem-focused charitable organizations. Grants are predominantly operational/unrestricted, indicating a preference for sustaining institutions rather than project-specific funding. The foundation’s grantee list and repeat awards show a clear religious and geographic orientation toward traditional Jewish education and community infrastructure.
Concentrated portfolio with repeat, unrestricted grants to a small set of faith-based grantees; gift sizes are moderate to substantial and targeted at sustaining institutional operations rather than diverse new initiatives.
A $100,000 unrestricted grant to Mosdos Nesivas Shalom in Monsey is the clearest recent signal of how Keren Yud Mem Inc C/o Rbs Business Management LLC funds: it backs Orthodox Jewish institutions with flexible support, often at institutional scale. The foundation’s recent awards also include sizable operating grants to yeshivas, kollels, synagogues, and communal charities in Lakewood, Brooklyn, and other Jewish communities, suggesting a steady emphasis on sustaining existing religious infrastructure rather than underwriting isolated projects. Mesivta Ner Moshe in Lakewood received a $50,500 unrestricted grant in 2023, while Khal Zichron Pinchas in Lakewood was awarded $44,000 the same year. That pattern is consistent with the foundation’s stated preference for unrestricted and general operating support, which appears throughout the recent grants list. The grantee names point to a network that includes Hasidic congregations, traditional Jewish schools, and Jerusalem-oriented charities, with repeat support appearing across multiple years. Rather than a broad thematic portfolio, the foundation’s giving is tightly centered on Orthodox Jewish communal life and the organizations that maintain it.
Orthodox Jewish education is a core area of support. In 2023, Keren Yud Mem Inc C/o Rbs Business Management LLC gave $50,500 to Mesivta Ner Moshe in Lakewood for unrestricted support, and it also awarded $15,000 to Yeshiva Shaar Hatorah in Kew Gardens in 2024. Communal worship institutions are another clear theme: Congregation Zichron Shaindel in Lakewood received $31,000 in 2024 and $25,500 in 2023, both unrestricted. Jerusalem-linked charitable work also appears repeatedly, including $38,000 to Aniyei Yerushalayim in Lakewood in 2024 and $44,000 to Khal Zichron Pinchas in Lakewood in 2023. The foundation also supports Hasidic community networks such as Mosdos Botoshan in Brooklyn, which received $37,250 in 2023 and $21,250 in 2024.
Typical grants are small to mid-sized, with a p25 of $1,000, a median of $2,000, and a p75 of $5,000. The recent grant list also shows larger operating awards at the top end, but the distribution indicates many grants are modest relative to the foundation’s annual giving total of $1,557,050. Recurring support is a visible pattern: several recipients appear in multiple years, including the same institutions receiving repeated unrestricted awards. The foundation does not fund individuals and does not make program-related investments. The grant language is consistently unrestricted or N/A unrestricted, which points to general operating support rather than restricted project funding.
