KBT Charitable Foundation concentrates its giving on Jewish communal life and Israel support while making selective gifts to higher education and health research. Major grants fund Holocaust remembrance and human-rights work, Israeli emergency/charitable institutions and local synagogue infrastructure, alongside sizable gifts to UCLA and a national food-allergy research fund. The portfolio suggests a donor interested in Jewish identity, Israel philanthropy, and a small set of secular research/education causes.
Kbt Charitable Foundation’s recent giving is defined by a $100,000 grant to the Simon Wiesenthal Center for general support, pointing to a portfolio that gives substantial weight to Holocaust remembrance and human-rights education. That theme sits alongside support for Jewish communal infrastructure and Israel-related institutions, with large awards to American Friends of Magen David Adom and PEF Israel Endowment, plus synagogue and campus-based Jewish life. The foundation also makes selective gifts outside the Jewish communal sphere, including higher-education philanthropy and health research. Within that mix, the foundation has shown an interest in established institutions rather than individuals or programmatic experiments. UCLA appears twice in the recent grants list, once through UCLA Foundation Trust and once directly to UCLA, both at $50,000. Food Allergy Fund also receives repeated support, suggesting a smaller but durable public-health thread in the portfolio. Other grants reach schools, medical centers, and legal-education organizations, but the pattern remains centered on institutional support with clear identity-based priorities. The recent record shows a regional giver with recurring interest in a few anchored causes rather than a broad thematic spread.
In Holocaust remembrance and human-rights education, the foundation gave $100,000 to the Simon Wiesenthal Center Inc for general support. That is the clearest single marker of its interest in memory, education, and public-facing advocacy. Israel-related philanthropy is another major lane. It gave $75,000 to American Friends of Magen David Adom in 2023 and $72,600 to Pef Israel Endowment in 2025, both as general support. Those gifts sit alongside funding for Friends of United Hatzalah, reinforcing a pattern of support for Israeli emergency and charitable institutions. The foundation also backs Jewish communal and campus life. Grants include $55,050 to B'nai Jacob Synagogue and $35,000 to Chabad at Columbia Inc, both for general support. In higher education, it also supported University of Pennsylvania and Lubavitch House at the University of Pennsylvania.
Typical awards are in the middle of a relatively concentrated range: the 25th percentile is $10,000, the median is $15,000, and the 75th percentile is $25,000. Recent grants also show repeated support to some recipients across years, including Pef Israel Endowment, Ramaz School, Food Allergy Fund, American Friends of Magen David Adom, Weinberg Center for Justice, and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. That repeat pattern points to ongoing relationships rather than purely one-time gifts. The foundation does not fund individuals and is not making program-related investments, so its giving is through direct grants.
