The Jackson Kemper Foundation concentrates its philanthropy on international relief and development, making very large, single-purpose grants to established global NGOs. Its 2023 grants funded a Honduran community development/education project and a major international medical relief campaign, indicating a focus on overseas humanitarian impact rather than local U.S. programs. The foundation appears willing to fund both long‑running campaign drives and specific project initiatives through sizable contributions.
Jackson Kemper Foundation made its largest recent grants to two very different international relief efforts: $3,063,298 to Amigos De Honduras for Proyecto Aldea Global and $3,000,000 to Doctors Without Borders/MSF for the Caring for the Next Generation campaign. That pairing points to a funder that backs both community development and emergency medical response through very large awards. The foundation’s recent giving also includes seven-figure support for Fistula Foundation and Trinity Hope, showing that it funds established nonprofits at a scale well above the typical grantmaking range. Across its recent awards, the foundation favors project-specific support as well as unrestricted operating grants, with some gifts directed to campaigns, school programs, water projects, and health services. Recipients include organizations working in Honduras, India, Ethiopia, Cambodia, and multiple African countries through international development programs. The pattern suggests a grantmaker that concentrates on overseas humanitarian and development work while using substantial grants to support both named initiatives and general operations at larger NGOs.
International development is a clear theme in the foundation’s recent grants. It gave $750,000 to Seva for solar power pump projects and $282,000 to Siwok Foundation for a drilling project, both tied to water access infrastructure. Education is another recurring area: $750,000 went to Predisan - USA Inc. for a school lunch program, $500,000 to Haiti Education Foundation for school sponsorships, and $250,000 to Citta for the Jaisalmer girls school. Health-related giving is substantial as well. The foundation awarded $500,000 to Cambodia Children’s Fund for early intervention and critical care programs and $429,361 to Orbis International for Phase II REACH program in India. It also provided $500,000 to One Acre Fund for Burundi, Nigeria, and Malawi programs, showing support for multi-country rural development work.
Typical grant size is large: the 25th percentile is $92,844, the median is $225,000, and the 75th percentile is $500,000. Recent giving includes repeated support for some recipients across 2023 and 2024, such as Charitywater, Fistula Foundation, Amigos De Honduras, Cambodia Children’s Fund, Predisan - USA Inc., Children of the Nations, and One Acre Fund. The foundation is classified as a regular funder rather than a donor-advised fund and does not fund individuals or make program-related investments. The recent record shows both operating support and project-specific awards.
