Who can apply: Applicants must be U.S.-based organizations with 501(c)(3) status. The organization must support medical professionals traveling abroad to provide direct cardiac care to pediatric patients with congenital heart defects, or support an existing program or institution in another country that provides such care. Returning grantees must be in good standing and comply with HeartGift's communication, reporting, standards, and timeline requirements. HeartGift does not fund multi-year requests, salaries, lobbying, political or religious efforts, care for rheumatic heart disease, or treatment for children over age 14.
