The Eleven Eleven Foundation makes a small number of very large, unrestricted gifts focused on high-profile institutions and initiatives: major universities, climate and conservation organizations, food-security/food-system intermediaries, and public-figure philanthropic platforms. Grants skew toward national and international organizations rather than grassroots groups, and the foundation often funds leadership, research, civic leadership and global philanthropy efforts through big strategic donations. Its giving signals a preference for scale, visibility, and flexible support rather than program-restricted awards.
Eleven Eleven Foundation’s largest recent gifts show a pattern of large, unrestricted support for a mix of universities, civic leadership platforms, climate organizations, and food-system intermediaries. In 2025, the foundation gave $7.5 million to American Friends of Royal Foundation, $6.6 million to Northwestern University, and $5 million to Climate Reality Project, all labeled unrestricted charitable gifts. Those awards sit alongside major support for University of Southern California, The Obama Foundation, the Clinton Foundation, Farmlink Project-CA, and Conservation International Foundation. The grant list points to a funder that favors flexible funding at institutional scale. Higher education appears repeatedly through Northwestern University, University of Chicago - Law School, Brown University, and MIT, while climate and conservation show up through Climate Reality Project, AltaSea at the Port of Los Angeles, Jane Goodall for Wildlife Research, and Conservation International Foundation. The foundation also backs public-facing philanthropic and civic initiatives, including American Friends of Royal Foundation, The Obama Foundation, Clinton Foundation, and Npt Transatlantic. Recent grants to Top Box FOODS and Farmlink Project-CA add food access and food-system resilience to the mix. The common thread is unrestricted support for organizations with national or international reach.
Higher education is a clear theme. Eleven Eleven Foundation gave $6.6 million to Northwestern University for an unrestricted charitable gift, along with $500,000 to University of Chicago - Law School and $250,000 to Brown University. A separate $1.15 million gift went to the University of Southern California, also unrestricted. Climate and conservation are another cluster. The foundation awarded $5 million to Climate Reality Project, $500,000 to Conservation International Foundation, and $250,000 to Jane Goodall for Wildlife Research. It also gave $300,000 to AltaSea at the Port of Los Angeles, linking environmental work with coastal and ocean-focused activity. Food-system support appears through intermediary organizations rather than direct service delivery. The foundation gave $1 million to Farmlink Project-CA and $500,000 to Top Box FOODS, both unrestricted gifts. Public leadership and civic platforms also receive support, including $1 million to The Obama Foundation and $1 million to Clinton Foundation.
