Crossroads United Way works to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of our communities to advance the common good. We bring people and resources together across Elkhart, LaGrange, Noble, and Steuben counties to create lasting change through local action and by leveraging the broader United Way network.
Crossroads United Way Inc channels local grantmaking into the same four pillars that guide its community work: Healthy Community, Youth Opportunity or Youth Success, Financial Security, and Community Resiliency. The recent grant record shows sustained support for operating budgets rather than isolated project awards, with multiple organizations receiving funding in more than one year. That pattern points to a funder that backs ongoing service delivery in Elkhart County and nearby communities. Among the recent awards, Oaklawn received $75,000 in 2023 for operations, one of the largest grants in the file. Other sizable operating grants went to Habitat for Humanity of Elkhart Cou in Goshen and Church Community Services in Elkhart, each at $50,000, reinforcing the emphasis on core capacity. The recipient list also includes schools, housing organizations, aging services, early childhood providers, and basic-needs agencies, which fits a broad local services portfolio. The foundation’s grant history suggests a practical, community-based approach: it funds 501(c)(3) organizations, uses a competitive annual cycle, and ties awards to service alignment within its service area. Across the recent grants, the same local nonprofits appear year after year, indicating recurring relationships rather than one-time transactions.

In housing and shelter, it gave $50,000 to Habitat for Humanity of Elkhart Cou in Goshen for operations and $25,000 to Lexington House of Elkhart Inc in 2024 for operations, reflecting attention to housing-related stability.
