The BGM Foundation concentrates its philanthropy locally in the Binghamton/Vestal region with a strong emphasis on supporting higher education and community institutions. The foundation makes a few large, targeted gifts — notably multiple substantial grants to Binghamton University — and also funds local health and cultural organizations. Its grantmaking appears aimed at sustaining anchor institutions that serve the regional community.
Bgm Foundation has made repeated $250,000 grants to Binghamton University Foundation in 2023, 2024, and 2025, making higher education a defining part of its giving pattern. That consistency sits alongside support for other local institutions that serve the Binghamton/Vestal area. In the recent grants list, the foundation also gave $100,000 to Roberson Museum and Science Center and $55,000 and $50,000 to Uhs Foundation in consecutive years, showing a mix of major anchor-institution support and smaller community gifts. The foundation’s giving is centered in the Binghamton region and leans toward organizations with broad local reach, including a public university, a regional health system foundation, and a museum and science center. It also supports religious, cultural, and social service groups in the same area, such as Trinity Memorial Church, Broome County Arts Council, Children’s Home, and The Danielle House Inc. The pattern suggests a funder that favors established institutions and recurring relationships rather than one-time, scattered giving. Across the recent grants list, the grants are concentrated in New York recipients and mostly cluster in Binghamton and nearby Johnson City.
Higher education is the clearest focus in the recent grants list. Bgm Foundation gave $250,000 to Binghamton University Foundation in 2023, 2024, and 2025, a recurring pattern that points to sustained support for the university. Healthcare-related giving also appears prominently. The foundation awarded $55,000 in 2024 and $50,000 in 2025 to Uhs Foundation, plus a $5,000 grant in 2023, indicating ongoing support for the regional health system and its fundraising arm. Cultural and community institutions are another part of the portfolio. In 2025, Bgm Foundation gave $100,000 to Roberson Museum and Science Center and $4,000 to Broome County Arts Council in 2024 and again in 2025. Smaller grants to Goodwill Theatre Inc and Catholic Education Foundation show that the foundation also supports local arts and education organizations beyond its largest anchor gifts.
Bgm Foundation’s typical grant size is modest for most awards, with a p25 of $550, a median of $1,000, and a p75 of $5,000. The distribution includes a few much larger targeted grants, including multiple $250,000 awards and six-figure support to a museum and a health-related foundation. Recurring grants are a clear feature: Binghamton University Foundation appears in three consecutive years, Uhs Foundation appears in multiple years, and several local nonprofits receive repeat support as well. The foundation is not listed as funding individuals and does not make program-related investments.
