The Belsky Family Foundation concentrates nearly all of its giving on Orthodox Jewish religious and educational institutions, primarily supporting kollels and synagogue-based education on Long Island. Grants are directed to institutions that provide Torah study, congregational religious services, and formal educational programming, indicating a mission-focused, faith-based philanthropic approach. The foundation favors a small number of sizable awards rather than broad, diversified giving.
Belsky Family Foundation Inc centers its giving on Orthodox Jewish religious and educational institutions, with recurring support for kollels, congregations, and yeshivas on Long Island and in nearby New York and New Jersey communities. One of its largest recent awards went to Congregation Chazon Avrohom in Brooklyn for educational services, and similar large grants went to Kollel International Inc in Lakewood for religious services. The pattern is institution-focused rather than individual giving, and the recipients are mostly organizations that provide Torah study, synagogue-based religious life, and formal Jewish education. The foundation’s recent grants also show support for charities serving poor families and for organizations tied to auxiliary police in Israel, alongside smaller awards to educational institutions in Jerusalem and London. Lawrence, Woodmere, Brooklyn, Lakewood, and Monsey appear repeatedly among recipient locations, which points to a regional network of faith-based institutions rather than a broad national spread. Grant purposes are usually written as assistance to support mission, educational services, or religious services, indicating a preference for general institutional backing over narrowly defined projects.
Educational services are a core part of the foundation’s portfolio. It gave $50,500 to Congregation Chazon Avrohom in Brooklyn for educational services and $22,500 to Torah Relief Society in Pomona for the same purpose. Yeshiva Toras Yisroel in Monsey received $10,000 for educational services, while Yeshiva Toras Chaim in Lakewood received $5,000. Religious institutions also receive sustained support. The foundation awarded $50,000 to Congregation Kollel Yehoshua Yitzchok in Lakewood for religious services and $21,000 to Mercaz Daf Yomi in Monsey for religious services. Congregation Gates of Mercy in Lakewood received $19,900, and Congregation Shaarey Tefila in Lawrence received $5,500. Its grantmaking also reaches hardship relief and public-safety-related causes. Davis Memorial Fund in Lawrence received $11,000 to help poor families, and Friends of Mishteret Yisrael in Woodmere received $3,600 to help auxiliary police in Israel.
Typical grants are small: the 25th percentile is $150, the median is $250, and the 75th percentile is $1,000. That distribution sits alongside a few much larger awards, which shows a mix of modest recurring support and occasional larger institutional gifts. The same recipients appear in multiple years, including Congregation Chazon Avrohom, Kollel International Inc, Mercaz Daf Yomi, Davis Memorial Fund, and Congregation Shaarey Tefila. The foundation does not fund individuals and does not make program-related investments. Its grants are made as institutional support, general operating support, direct service funding, or program/project support, depending on the recipient.
