United Way mobilizes communities to action so all can thrive. We combine acts of generosity and work collectively—across sectors and alongside community leaders—to create lasting change in the Treasure Valley.
United Way of Treasure Valley Inc. concentrates local funding on the Treasure Valley through annual Community Fund grant cycles, multi-year community impact grants, and year-round Flex Grants. Its recent awards show a clear pattern of support for housing stability, child and youth services, and basic needs, with Boise-based Jesse Tree receiving $80,000 in both 2024 and 2025 for the Extended Emergency Rental & Mercy Assistance Program and the Women’s & Children’s Alliance receiving $75,000 in 2023 and 2024 for safe and secure shelter. The foundation also backs shared-service models that place staff and resources in trusted locations. A 2025 grant to Idaho Youth Ranch supported the Hays Shelter Home with general operating expenses such as shelter needs, food, clothing, supplies, healthcare services, and individual assessments. Other awards point to a mix of direct service, capacity building, and operating support for local nonprofits serving children, families, and clients facing homelessness. The organization’s grantmaking is fully local, with all recorded recent grants going to Idaho recipients.
In housing stability and homelessness prevention, the foundation awarded $80,000 to Jesse Tree for its Extended Emergency Rental & Mercy Assistance Program and $50,000 to Charitable Assistance to Community’s Homeless for Catch of Ada & Cany, which supported equipment, supplies, case management, and resource staff. For shelter services, it granted $75,000 to Women’s & Children’s Alliance for safe and secure shelter, including shelter costs, counseling, and child care so clients could attend sessions. Youth and child development is another recurring area: Boys & Girls Clubs of Ada County received $58,500 for youth development program staff, facilities, and supplies, while Treasure Valley Family YMCA received $32,500 for early and school-age childhood development and financial assistance to enroll more children and families. Education support also appears in grants such as $35,000 to Learning Lab for literacy materials and software.
Typical grant size sits at $12,000 at the 25th percentile, $20,000 at the median, and $32,500 at the 75th percentile. The recent record includes both repeat awards and multi-year support: Jesse Tree, Women’s & Children’s Alliance, Boys & Girls Clubs of Ada County, and others appear in more than one grant year, while the Community Impact Grants program is explicitly described as multi-year funding. The foundation operates through a community fund structure and uses a mix of annual grants and year-round Flex Grants. The annual Community Fund cycle accepts Letters of Intent, while Community Impact Grants are not unsolicited.
