Nonna's Garden is a high-capacity donor that concentrates its giving on major medical centers and elite universities, primarily through large general contributions. The foundation’s grants skew toward hospital and health-related institutions—especially cancer care/research centers—and significant support for higher education in New York, often via multi-grant relationships.
Concentrated, high-dollar giving: a small number of very large grants, repeated support to select institutional grantees (multi-year or multi-grant relationships), primarily funding established New York hospitals and universities despite the foundation being based in Orlando.
Nonna's Garden’s largest recent gifts are repeated general contributions of $4.9 million and $4 million to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, a pattern that places cancer care and research at the center of the foundation’s giving. The same approach appears across other major institutions: the foundation has also made multimillion-dollar general contributions to Trustees of Columbia University in NYC, NewYork-Presbyterian Fund Inc, and Weill Cornell Medical College. That mix points to a funder that favors large, unrestricted support for established hospitals and universities rather than tightly specified project grants. Recent awards also show a strong New York orientation. Grants to St. John’s University, Holy Cross High School of Bayside, Fordham University, and the Columbia and Cornell systems suggest a recurring interest in higher education and institutional sustainability. Beyond higher education and medicine, the foundation has given general contributions to organizations such as Special Olympics International, the Archdiocese for Military Services USA, American Cancer Society Inc, and The Ucf Foundation Inc. Across the recent grant list, the throughline is broad, flexible support for major nonprofits with significant operating scale.
Cancer-related institutions anchor much of the foundation’s giving. In 2025, Nonna's Garden gave $4.9 million to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center for general contribution, and it made another $4 million general contribution to the same organization in 2025. Higher education is another clear theme. The foundation awarded $2.4 million to Trustees of Columbia University in NYC in 2024, followed by two separate $2.1 million general contributions in 2025. Its support also reaches other academic and faith-based institutions. Nonna's Garden gave $1 million to St John's University in 2025 and $600,000 to Holy Cross High School of Bayside that same year, with an additional $500,000 to the high school in 2024. Smaller grants to Fordham University and St Thomas More Church show that the foundation’s giving extends beyond medicine into education and affiliated community institutions.
Nonna's Garden’s typical grant size is $12,500 at the 25th percentile, $45,000 at the median, and $200,000 at the 75th percentile, which shows a long tail of larger institutional awards. The recent list includes repeated support to the same recipients across 2024 and 2025, including Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Trustees of Columbia University in NYC, Holy Cross High School of Bayside, St Thomas More Church, and The Ucf Foundation Inc. That repetition suggests ongoing relationships rather than one-off gifts. The foundation is a regular funder, not a DAF, and it does not fund individuals or make program-related investments. Grants in the dataset are listed as general contributions.

Grantmaking is national, but New York receives the most grants, and the recipient list is heavily centered there. Recent New York recipients include New York City, Queens, Flushing, the Bronx, and Saratoga Springs. Outside New York, grants reached Washington, DC; Atlanta, Georgia; Orlando, Florida; Narragansett, Rhode Island; Cincinnati, Ohio; Hamilton, Ohio; Woodbridge, New Jersey; and Flat Rock, North Carolina. Recipients in Florida account for 11% of grants, even though the foundation’s headquarters is in Orlando.
The recent grants are dominated by large general contributions to hospitals, cancer centers, and universities. Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Trustees of Columbia University in NYC, NewYork-Presbyterian Fund Inc, and Weill Cornell Medical College all received major unrestricted gifts, showing a preference for institutional support rather than narrow project funding.
Yes. The top state by grant count is New York, and the recent recipient list includes New York City, Queens, Flushing, the Bronx, and Saratoga Springs. Florida recipients are present too, but they account for 11% of grants, which is lower than New York’s share of the grant activity.
The foundation’s grant-size distribution is $12,500 at the 25th percentile, $45,000 at the median, and $200,000 at the 75th percentile. The recent grants also show awards ranging from $50,000 to multimillion-dollar general contributions, indicating a wide spread between routine gifts and flagship commitments.
Yes. Several recipients appear in multiple years or multiple times in the recent list. Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center received grants in both 2024 and 2025, Trustees of Columbia University in NYC received multiple 2025 grants after a 2024 award, and Holy Cross High School of Bayside and St Thomas More Church also appear more than once.
The recent grants are consistently labeled general contribution, which points to unrestricted or broad operating support. The foundation is a regular funder, does not fund individuals, and does not make program-related investments.
