Established investigators with substantial funding on the proposed topic are unlikely to be competitive.

Funded programs must relate to AAUW's mission of advancing equity for women and girls, and more than half of the program's clients must be women or girls. Grants support specific programs, not general organizational funding. Recipients must publicly acknowledge AAUW State College support and submit a program update six months after receiving funds and when applying again.

Funded activities must occur within the 50 states or Washington, DC. Organizations must demonstrate experience in, or willingness to begin, policy or systems-change work at the local, state, or national level; have a track record of applying a health or racial equity lens; and be committed to deepening expertise in the social determinants of oral health. Proposals should be led by, or strongly informed through trusted relationships with, communities historically affected by oral health inequities.
