About J-P Conte Family Foundation
A defining feature of the J-p Conte Family Foundation is its repeated six- and seven-figure support for a small set of institutions, including a $1.5 million grant to Hoover Institution in 2025 for general support and a $1 million grant to the University of Southern California for the SDA Student Emergency Fund. The foundation’s giving also shows a consistent interest in higher education, policy research, and local civic life, with large awards to Harvard Business School, The American Lyceum, and San Francisco-based organizations. Across the recent grants list, the foundation backs universities, research and debate institutions, hospitals, schools, and community groups. Harvard Business School received grants in 2023, 2024, and 2025, while Cpmc Foundation - Sutter Health received annual support in 2023, 2024, and 2025. In San Francisco, the foundation funded SEO Scholars San Francisco, the Boys and Girls Club of Sf, Citizen Film, and local special events. Its portfolio also includes support for preservation and animal welfare, showing a mix of institutional philanthropy and place-based grants.
What J-P Conte Family Foundation Funds
Higher education is a major theme in the foundation’s grantmaking. It gave $550,000 to Harvard Business School in 2025 for education, following grants of $500,000 in both 2023 and 2024 for the same purpose. Student support is another clear thread: the foundation gave $1 million to the University of Southern California for the SDA Student Emergency Fund. In college access and youth development, it supported SEO Scholars San Francisco with $348,500 in 2023 and $300,000 in 2025 for children’s education, and gave $250,000 to 10000 Degrees in each of 2023, 2024, and 2025 for low-income college scholarships. Civic and policy-focused giving appears in a $220,000 grant to The American Lyceum for rebuilding civil society through innovative research and solution-focused debates. The foundation also funded the J-P Conte Initiative on Immigration at Hoover Institution, tied to research on the economic effects of immigration.
