Who can apply: Organizations must be nonprofit entities qualified under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, located within Michigan and benefiting Michigan communities. Grants must serve charitable purposes and public benefit, and organizations may not discriminate based on age, creed, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, or sexual orientation. The foundation generally does not fund capital projects unless initiated by the Foundation, fundraising events or conferences, individuals, K-12 schools, secondary schools or universities, lobbying or political campaigns, religious purposes unless initiated by the Foundation, units of government, or veterans organizations.

Applicants must provide an organizational mission statement, recent annual report or impact statement if applicable, leadership and board information, annual budget and balance sheet, requested amount and use of funds, service area, program or event information, EIN, W-9, and for 501(c)(3) organizations, an IRS determination letter. ACH instructions are required for requests of $2,500 or more and for all contributions paid by the Needham Bank Charitable Foundation. One application per organization per calendar year is generally permitted. Individuals and individual fundraising events are not eligible.
