Who can apply: Applicants must be nonprofit organizations qualified under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code or agencies using funds for a charitable purpose. Organizations must work within Berks County, preferably be headquartered there. The Foundation generally will not fund for-profit enterprises, individuals, scholarships, endowments, sustaining operating funds, religious or fraternal activities, sponsorships, events, animal rights programs, or activities that could jeopardize its charitable status. Applicants should identify the criticality of the issue, provide measurable indicators, and have other funding sources because the Foundation should not be the sole funder.
Who can apply: Applications are reviewed by the Trustees. Projects should fit the Contributionship's current priorities. Organizations with discriminatory policies are not considered. The funder does not consider unsolicited operating proposals or operating seed money requests, and grantees/declined applicants must wait a calendar year before reapplying.
Who can apply: Applicants must be 501(c)(3) organizations serving the Foundation's geographic focus area and must not discriminate on prohibited bases. Funding may not benefit political activities, advocacy or lobbying, religious institutions, fundraising events, individual needs such as scholarships or sponsorships, pass-through grants, individual or group travel, or other activities deemed inappropriate. The Foundation generally does not provide routine funding; previous grantees must wait at least three years before submitting another request, except that emergency needs may be discussed with staff.
