To support innovative, grassroots programs that empower women and girls statewide by providing information and education on women’s and girls’ philanthropy, shining a light on women’s and girls’ issues, and increasing the visibility of our grantees.
Women's Fund of Hawai'i centers its grantmaking on innovative, grassroots programs that empower women and girls across Hawai'i, with a consistent pattern of $10,000 awards in the recent grant list. The foundation’s recent recipients point to a broad community lens: Pacific Birth Collective Inc received $12,500 in Haiku, while Project Koa Yoga LLC received $10,000 in Honolulu. Other supported organizations include Wahine Freelance Alliance, Wisdom Circles Oceania, and The Growing Ohana, all of which reflect the fund’s statewide reach and its emphasis on local programs rather than large institutional grants. Its stated purpose is also specific about how it works: the foundation supports women’s and girls’ philanthropy, highlights women’s and girls’ issues, and increases the visibility of grantees. That combination shows up in the grant list, where support goes to organizations serving women and girls through health, safety, leadership, financial security, and community-based services. The recent grants also include groups working in places such as O'ahu, Maui, Hawai'i Island, and Kaua'i, reinforcing a statewide profile built around local nonprofit capacity rather than one-off national initiatives. The grant record suggests steady, repeatable support for community programs that fit within that mission.
Women’s financial security is one of the clearest themes in the grant list. The foundation gave $10,000 to Aloha Diaper Bank in Kaneohe, a local service that sits within the broader set of barriers the fund names around economic self-sufficiency and family support. Health and care services also appear prominently. Malama Pono Health Services in Lihue received $10,000, and Dynamic Healing Center in Honolulu received $10,000, showing support for programs tied to physical and mental well-being. Safety and recovery are another recurring thread. Pouhana O Na Wahine in Ewa Beach received $10,000, and Pacific Survivor Centor in Honolulu received $10,000, aligning with the foundation’s focus on violence, sexual exploitation, and support for survivors. The grant list also reaches into culture and leadership: Hula Preservation Society in Kaneohe received $10,000, while Mana Wahine Productions in Waialua received $10,000.
The recent grant list is tightly clustered at $10,000: the p25, median, and p75 are all $10,000. That pattern suggests a standardized award size, with occasional variation such as the $12,500 grant to Pacific Birth Collective Inc. The fund’s structure is programmatic and open-RFP based, with two annual application windows in spring and fall. Existing programs, including prior grantees, may apply, and the foundation also accepts unsolicited applications in several listed grant programs. The record reflects continuing support rather than a one-time campaign, with annual cycles and recurring grantmaking throughout multiple years.

Grant recipients are entirely in Hawai'i, and the distribution is statewide rather than concentrated in Honolulu alone. Recent awards land in Honolulu, Kaneohe, Hilo, Aiea, Ewa Beach, Haiku, Kahului, and Lihue, with additional grants in places such as Waialua, Paia, Wailuku, Hana, Makawao, Kaua'i, Moloka'i, and Maui. The top state by grant count is Hawai'i, and every listed recipient is in the U.S.
It uses a biannual cycle with spring and fall Requests for Proposals. The grant programs described in the data support nonprofit programs serving women and girls in Hawai'i, and several listed cycles say existing programs, including prior grantees, may apply.
The typical award is $10,000. In the recent grant data, the p25, median, and p75 are all $10,000, showing a very tight grant-size pattern.
The fund supports women and girls statewide through areas such as financial security, girls’ leadership, health, safety, homelessness, reproductive rights and health, and support for survivors of domestic and sexual violence. Recent grants also show attention to culture, housing, and healing services.
All recent grants in the data go to recipients in Hawai'i, with cities and islands including Honolulu, Kaneohe, Hilo, Aiea, Ewa Beach, Haiku, Lihue, Maui, Kaua'i, and Moloka'i. The recipient country distribution is 100% U.S.
The data shows that existing programs, including prior Women’s Fund of Hawai'i grantees, may apply, and some grant programs say organizations are not required to create new programs to apply. Several listed cycles also accept unsolicited applications.
