WHEDA Foundation Housing Grant Program
Who can apply: Applicants must be nonprofit organizations or cooperatives organized under Chapters 181, 185, or 187 of the Wisconsin Statutes; community development, redevelopment, or housing authorities; local units of government; or Tribal nation housing authorities or other housing entities/departments supporting Tribal housing. Nonprofits and cooperatives must be registered in good standing with the Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions. Organizations that received awards in either category for three consecutive years are ineligible in the fourth year. Applicants with overdue final reports for prior awards are also ineligible until the report is submitted. Eligible projects include rehabilitation, accessibility improvements, conversions or additions, site acquisition and other development activities, building acquisition, and new construction. Ongoing operating costs, services, transportation, housing finance, studies, and personal home improvements are not eligible.
Deadline: The 2026 application deadline was July 31, 2026 at 11:59 PM. The 2026 cycle is closed; based on the program's annual cycle, the next deadline is expected July 31, 2027, subject to WHEDA announcement.
