UMB Financial Corporation Charitable makes relatively large, targeted grants focused on education and workforce access, basic needs/housing, and services for underserved communities (notably Hispanic populations and people with disabilities). They fund scholarship and career programs, community development and emergency services, and civic/cultural institutions, often as multi-year or substantive single commitments rather than many small gifts. Recipients include both national intermediaries (Scholarship America, giving platforms) and local/regional nonprofits addressing housing, homelessness, domestic violence, youth services, and autism support.
Umb Financial Corporation Charitable stands out for combining large scholarship commitments with substantial support for disability services and Hispanic-serving institutions. One of its clearest signals is a $400,000 grant to Inclusion Connections for general operating support, alongside a $236,000 commitment to Scholarship America for 2024 scholarship awards. Those awards sit within a broader pattern of funding education and career access, including support for a university career hub and scholarship programming. The foundation also backs organizations serving specific community needs: $200,000 went to Southwest Autism Research - Resource Center for mission and programming, and $150,000 supported Guadalupe Centers for general operating support. Other gifts in the recent record point to housing stability, domestic violence services, youth programs, and cultural institutions. Grants are often sized to support meaningful program or operating commitments rather than one-off symbolic gifts. The mix of national intermediaries, universities, and local nonprofits suggests a funder that uses both centralized scholarship vehicles and direct community grants to reach students, families, and underserved populations across several service areas.
Education and career access are central to the foundation’s giving. It awarded $236,000 to Scholarship America Inc for 2024 scholarship awards and previously gave $200,000 to Scholarship America for a scholarship program. Workforce-oriented support appears as well: Msu Denver Foundation Inc received $166,667 in 2025 as the final payment of a career hub commitment, following a $166,666 payment in 2023 for the same project. The foundation also backs services for people with disabilities and autism. Inclusion Connections received $400,000 for general operating support, while Southwest Autism Research - Resource Center received $200,000 for mission and programming. Hispanic-serving organizations are another clear theme. Guadalupe Centers received $150,000 for general operating support, Hispanic Development Fund received $100,000 for general operating support, and National Hispanic Cultural Foundation received $75,000 for charitable programs.
Typical awards are mid-sized: the grant size distribution is $5,000 at the 25th percentile, $10,000 at the median, and $23,750 at the 75th percentile. The recent record also includes several six-figure commitments, which points to a mix of routine grants and larger pledges. Repeat support appears in the data for Scholarship America and Msu Denver Foundation Inc, indicating multi-year or installment-based funding. The foundation is a corporate charitable foundation, and it funds individuals as well as organizations. No application process is shown in the provided data.
