The Thomas and Carol Cracchiolo Foundation concentrates its giving in a small number of relatively large grants, balancing international child-focused relief with local faith‑based and youth services. Their support includes direct operating funding for an East African children’s charity, sustained support for at‑risk girls programming, and contributions to Catholic senior living — alongside substantial pass‑through giving via a donor‑advised fund. Overall, the foundation appears to favor a mix of faith‑aligned community services and targeted international child welfare work.
The Thomas and Carol Cracchiolo Foundation combines large donor-advised transfers with direct operating support for child welfare, Catholic institutions, and community services in Michigan. Its biggest recent grant went to Fidelity Charitable Fund for a donor advised fund, while another major 2025 award supported East African Children's Fund for operating costs. That mix is distinctive: some grants flow through a charitable vehicle, while others go straight to local nonprofits and faith-based organizations. Among the foundation’s named recipients, East African Children's Fund stands out for repeated operating support, including another six-figure grant in 2024. The foundation also backed Alternative for Girls for its Little Dreamers and Prevention Program, and it supported Ihmservants Immaculate Heart Mary for the IHM Senior Living Community. Those grants show a pattern of funding that reaches children, adolescents, and older adults through targeted programs and operating support. The foundation’s giving also includes schools, churches, food relief, and senior care, with grant sizes ranging from small project awards to six-figure commitments. Its recent record suggests a preference for practical support rather than one-off publicity projects, with several recipients appearing more than once across the latest filings.
In children and youth work, the foundation gave $170,000 to Alternative for Girls for the Little Dreamers and Prevention Program, and later added a $25,000 grant for the same program. It also gave $45,000 to Capuchin Soup Kitchen for the Rosa Parks Children and Youth Program, linking youth services to a Detroit-based community provider. Its faith-based support is visible in grants such as $60,000 to St Paul on the Lake Catholic Church for operating support and $20,000 to Sacred Heart Major Seminary for operating support. Catholic schools also appear in the portfolio: Austin Catholic High School received $27,000 for a capital campaign in 2025. Food insecurity is another clear theme. Forgotten Harvest received $65,000 for a campaign to advance food security in 2024 and $20,000 in 2025 for the same purpose. Manna Community Meals also received operating support in both 2024 and 2025, showing repeat backing for direct meal service.
