About Mary Alice Fortin Foundation
The Mary Alice Fortin Foundation’s grantmaking is defined by large, unrestricted operating support rather than a long list of smaller awards. Its recent gifts include a $2,500,000 grant to Billings Clinic Foundation in Billings and a $2,115,000 grant to The Lord's Place in West Palm Beach, showing a pattern of substantial support for institutions serving health care, housing, and social services. The foundation also backs higher-education research and partnership work, including a $1,060,000 award to Duke University - Bass Connections and a $500,000 grant to Duke University for the Bass Connections program. Across the recent grants list, the foundation supports organizations that deliver services directly to children, students, patients, and people experiencing homelessness or food insecurity. Other major awards include $760,000 to Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County, $750,000 to Busch Wildlife Sanctuary, and $540,000 to St Vincent Healthcare Foundation. The mix points to a funder that concentrates resources into a small set of established organizations and program platforms, with general support appearing more often than project-specific funding.
