About Lendingtree Foundation
The LendingTree Foundation’s clearest pattern is channeling large unrestricted support through Charlotte’s community infrastructure, especially Foundation for the Carolinas, which appears multiple times in the recent grants list at $250,000. That intermediary-centered approach sits alongside direct support for local organizations working in Charlotte on mobility, housing, education, and neighborhood development. Recent grant recipients include Freedom Communities, Do Greater Charlotte, Digi-bridge, Dottie Rose Foundation, Charlotte Rescue Mission, Common Wealth Charlotte, Artpop Street Gallery, Charlotte Is Creative, West Side Community Land Trust, and The Relatives Inc. Several of those organizations received $125,000 awards in both 2023 and 2024, showing repeated support across years rather than a single isolated gift. The foundation also makes smaller gifts, with $25,000 awards to groups such as Right Moves for Youth Inc and Wayfinders, and a $5,000 grant to Stiletto Boss University. Overall, the portfolio points to place-based philanthropy in Charlotte that combines intermediary funding with direct grants to community-embedded nonprofits.
What Lendingtree Foundation Funds
A major part of the foundation’s work centers on homeownership and upward mobility. In 2023 and 2024, it gave $125,000 to West Side Community Land Trust for support, and it also backed Common Wealth Charlotte with $125,000 in each of those years. It has also funded Freedom Communities and Do Greater Charlotte at the same grant level, indicating repeated support for organizations tied to local economic opportunity. Education and youth-focused support appears as well, including $125,000 to Digi-bridge in both 2023 and 2024 and $25,000 to Right Moves for Youth Inc in 2023. The portfolio includes direct support for community-serving nonprofits such as Charlotte Rescue Mission and The Relatives Inc, each funded at $125,000 in both years.
How Lendingtree Foundation Gives
The reported grant sizes are clustered around a few levels: p25 is $5,000, the median is $125,000, and p75 is $125,000. That pattern reflects a portfolio split between smaller employee-linked gifts and a recurring set of larger community grants. The recent grants list shows repeat awards to the same organizations across 2023 and 2024, especially at $125,000, suggesting ongoing support rather than one-time project funding. The foundation operates through both direct grants and employee-giving mechanisms, including a volunteer grant program, employee matching, and matched charitable donations. It also runs a cohort model for founder-led organizations, with the active program description specifying multi-year, trust-based support. Some programs accept unsolicited requests, including Community Impact Grants and employee volunteer grants.
