The Pantirer Family Foundation concentrates its giving on Jewish communal life in the Short Hills / MetroWest NJ area, with substantial support for local synagogues and federated Jewish services, while also funding international medical relief and cultural institutions. Grants are relatively large and targeted, favoring a small set of recurring grantees and a mix of local civic needs (healthcare) and national/international charities.
The Larry and Nancy Pantirer Family Foundation Inc. shows a clear preference for a small group of recurring partners, with especially large support for Jewish communal organizations in and around Short Hills and MetroWest New Jersey. One of the clearest signals is a $65,000 grant to Chabad of Short Hills in 2023, followed by additional awards to the same organization in later years. The foundation also backed Uja of Metrowest NJ with $55,000 in 2023 and $25,000 in 2024, indicating sustained support for regional Jewish federated services. Alongside those core commitments, the foundation has made selective grants to international emergency medical relief, cultural institutions, and local healthcare providers. Recent awards include $53,000 to Doctors Without Borders in 2024, $42,000 to Poets House in 2023, and $20,000 to Saint Barnabas Medical Center in 2023. The overall picture is a targeted family foundation that funds a mix of Jewish communal life, community services, and a handful of broader civic and humanitarian causes.
A major part of the foundation’s giving supports Jewish communal infrastructure in northern New Jersey. It gave $65,000 to Chabad of Short Hills in 2023 and $18,000 to Jewish Education Center in 2025, both of which point to interest in local religious and educational life. Regional Jewish federated services are another recurring theme: Uja of Metrowest NJ received $55,000 in 2023 and $25,000 in 2024. The foundation also funds health and humanitarian work outside its core local network, including $53,000 to Doctors Without Borders in 2024 for international emergency medical relief and $20,000 to Saint Barnabas Medical Center in 2023. Cultural and educational institutions appear as well, such as $42,000 to Poets House in 2023 and $10,000 to Hartford Art School in 2023.
Typical grants are mid-sized, with a p25 of $1,800, a median of $5,000, and a p75 of $10,000. The recent record shows both one-time gifts and repeated support for the same organizations, including multiple awards to Chabad of Short Hills, Uja of Metrowest NJ, Doctors Without Borders, and Children’s Aid across different years. That pattern fits a concentrated family foundation with a selective portfolio rather than broad open solicitation. The foundation does not fund individuals and does not make program-related investments.
