The George W. Bauer Family Foundation gives across health, education, local community services and climate/environmental causes, with a mix of local New Jersey civic investments and national/international environmental and relief partners. Grants frequently support direct service programs (community health/diabetes care, hospital facilities, food security, youth services) and scholarships, while also funding climate mitigation and carbon removal organizations. The foundation appears to favor repeat, program-specific grants to a stable set of organizations rather than one-off gifts to many small new recipients.
The George W Bauer Family Foundation’s giving shows a clear pattern of repeat support for health, education, and New Jersey community institutions, with several grants renewed across consecutive years. One anchor of the portfolio is the George W. Bauer Endowed Scholarship at Rutgers University Foundation, which received $83,750 in 2023 and $46,750 in 2024. Another recurring priority is diabetes care at Parker Family Health Center, funded at $75,000 in 2023 and 2024, then $50,000 in 2025. The foundation also backs hospital experience improvements, including Trinitas Health Foundation for the emergency room waiting area in 2023, 2024, and 2025. Beyond these program-specific commitments, it funds unrestricted support to community organizations such as United Methodist Church of Red Bank and Gateway Family YMCA. The recent record also includes support for climate and carbon removal work through Clean Air Task Force, alongside relief and animal welfare grants outside New Jersey. Overall, the foundation combines recurring place-based grants with a smaller set of broader national awards.
Community health is a major theme in the foundation’s recent grants. Parker Family Health Center in Red Bank received $75,000 in 2024 and $50,000 in 2025 for the diabetes program, while Trinitas Health Foundation in Elizabeth received $60,000 in 2025 for the emergency room waiting area. Education appears through scholarship support: Rutgers University Foundation in Piscataway received $83,750 in 2023 and $46,750 in 2024 for the George W. Bauer Endowed Scholarship. The foundation also funds farmworker-family health work, giving $40,000 in 2025 to Emory University School of Nursing for the farmworker family health program. Local community support includes unrestricted grants to United Methodist Church of Red Bank and Gateway Family YMCA, each appearing in multiple years.
Typical grants sit in the mid five figures: the 25th percentile is $8,625, the median is $15,000, and the 75th percentile is $25,000. Recent awards also reach higher levels, with several grants at $40,000 to $60,000 and a scholarship grant above that range. The pattern is repeat funding rather than isolated gifts; several recipients appear across multiple years, including health, scholarship, and community organizations. The foundation is a regular funder and also makes grants to individuals. Grantmaking includes unrestricted support, program-restricted awards, scholarship funding, and capital or facility-related support.
