The Fischer Family Foundation gives heavily in Northern Kentucky and the Greater Cincinnati region, with a clear emphasis on children, youth, and families. Its largest gifts support education, after-school and cradle-to-career programs, youth development, housing stability, food security, and family services, often through well-established local nonprofits and faith-based charities. The foundation also shows a strong preference for repeat relationships, returning to a core set of grantees across multiple years with meaningful, often unrestricted support.
A 2023 general-support grant of $5,072,965 to See Attached stands out as the clearest signal of scale in The Fischer Family Foundation 2008’s recent giving. The foundation pairs that kind of large, flexible support with repeated commitments to youth education and community stability across Northern Kentucky and nearby metro areas. In 2025, it gave $2,300,000 to EducateNKY to expand educational opportunities and improve outcomes for youth in Boone, Campbell, and Kenton counties, followed by $865,000 to Welcome House for general support. Those awards sit alongside other sizeable gifts to organizations working in cradle-to-career education, after-school services, housing stability, and regional safety-net programs. The pattern is local and relationship-driven: grants often go to organizations that serve broad community needs rather than narrow project niches. It also extends beyond schooling into housing, shelter, health care, and emergency relief, including support for regional nonprofits and municipal partners in Kentucky, Ohio, and Indiana. Across the recent record, the foundation appears to favor practical, community-facing institutions that can serve children, families, and residents with urgent needs.
Education is one of the foundation’s clearest priorities. It gave $310,000 to Learning Grove for “providing exceptional cradle to career educational services” and $359,250 to Villa Madonna Academy as a general donation. After-school programming is another recurring theme: Covington Partners received $250,000 for “after school programs in Covington, Ludlow and Newport.” The foundation also backs housing and shelter work. Habitat for Humanity of Greater Dayton received $500,000, while The City of Shepherdsville and City of Mt Washington Ky each received $250,000 in general donations. Health and family services show up as well. Riley Children’s Foundation received $187,000, and Children’s Home of Northern Kentucky received $130,000. In civic infrastructure, Horizon Community Fund received $153,770 for the “NKY Community Journalism Fund,” linking the foundation’s local giving to community information needs.
Typical grant size is wide-ranging, with a p25 of $100, a median of $78,000, and a p75 of $622,000. That spread shows a mix of small grants and much larger institutional awards. The recent record includes multiple gifts to the same organizations, such as Brighton Center and Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Cincinnati, which suggests some recurring relationships rather than one-off support only. The foundation is structured as a family foundation, and it also funds individuals. It does not make program-related investments. The presence of both endowment support and general support points to flexible, multi-purpose grantmaking rather than a single grant format.

Notable grantees: EDUCATENKY, BOYS AND GIRLS CLUBS OF GREATER CINCINNATI, BRIGHTON CENTER, WELCOME HOUSE, CHILDREN'S HOME OF NORTHERN KENTUCKY
Giving is heavily concentrated in Kentucky, which accounts for 80% of grants, and the foundation’s local footprint centers on Northern Kentucky communities such as Covington, Newport, Villa Hills, and Mt Washington. Outside Kentucky, grants also land in Cincinnati, Columbus, Dayton, Indianapolis, Atlanta, and University Heights. All recorded recipient countries are in the United States. The geographic pattern pairs nearby community anchors with a smaller set of regional and national nonprofits tied to housing, youth, health, and disaster response.
Recent grants show support for education, after-school programming, housing and shelter, children’s health, community journalism, and disaster relief. Examples include EducateNKY for youth outcomes, Covington Partners for after-school programs, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Dayton for housing, and the American Red Cross for Hurricane Helene disaster relief.
The grant-size distribution is broad: p25 is $100, median grant size is $78,000, and p75 is $622,000. That means the foundation makes everything from small gifts to very large awards, with several six-figure grants in the recent record.
Yes. Some recipients appear multiple times in the recent grants list, including Brighton Center and Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Cincinnati. That pattern suggests the foundation maintains ongoing relationships with selected organizations rather than only making isolated grants.
