The Judkins Family Foundation concentrates its giving locally in Bakersfield and the surrounding area, prioritizing direct emergency assistance and youth development. Most grant dollars have gone to a small set of recurring partners that provide disaster/poverty relief and programs for at-risk young people, indicating a preference for hands-on, community-level services. The foundation appears pragmatic and relationship-driven, favoring trusted local organizations that deliver immediate needs and ongoing youth support.
A defining pattern of The Donavan and Randie Judkins Family Foundation is repeated support for local service organizations that handle immediate community needs, especially disaster relief and youth services. In the recent grants list, Unity Shoppe Inc received $125,000 in 2025 for disaster relief, the largest grant shown, after prior awards of $75,000 in 2024 and $75,000 in 2023 for the same purpose. The foundation also sustained multi-year support for United Boys and Girls Clubs, including $93,292 in 2024 and $35,000 in 2025 for support of troubled youth. That combination points to a grantmaker that favors practical, program-specific help rather than broad unrestricted support. Its portfolio includes emergency assistance, counseling and guidance for young people, and a smaller set of grants to religious, family, public safety, and cultural organizations. Bakersfield-area organizations appear often, but the foundation also funds selected partners in Santa Barbara, Irvine, Granite Bay, Hallsville, Philadelphia, and Carpinteria. The overall pattern is consistent with a locally oriented family foundation making relationship-based grants to organizations that provide direct services to children, families, and the general public.
Emergency relief is central to the foundation’s giving. Unity Shoppe Inc in Santa Barbara received $125,000 in 2025 for disaster relief, following $75,000 grants in both 2024 and 2023 for the same purpose. That same practical orientation shows up in other community-service awards, including $35,225 to the Santa Barbara Police Foundation in 2025 for public service support. Youth-focused grants are another clear theme. United Boys and Girls Clubs received $93,292 in 2024 and $35,000 in 2025 for support of troubled youth, while Heartlight Ministries received $30,000 in both 2024 and 2025 for troubled youth education and support, after a $25,000 grant in 2023. The foundation also funded Alpha Reseource Center twice for children’s guidance, with $46,100 in 2025 and $40,000 in 2024. Beyond those areas, the foundation made repeated religious-instruction grants to Power to Change and New Hope Opportunities Honduras, and supported marriage counseling through Marriage Matters in Bakersfield.

Concentrated giving to a very small number of local grantees with multiple, relatively large awards (repeat support to core partners rather than many one-off grants).
Notable grantees: Unity Shoppe, Inc. (recurring large grants for disaster/relief and basic needs), United Boys and Girls Clubs (support for troubled/at-risk youth)
Typical grant size clusters in the middle range, with a p25 of $10,078, a median of $35,000, and a p75 of $45,550. The recent record shows repeated grants to the same organizations across multiple years, including Unity Shoppe Inc, United Boys and Girls Clubs, Heartlight Ministries, Power to Change, New Hope Opportunities Honduras, Santa Barbara Police Foundation, Santa Barbara Polo Club, and Marriage Matters. That repeat pattern suggests ongoing relationships rather than one-off awards. The foundation is a family foundation, does not fund individuals, and does not make program-related investments. The grants shown are program-specific and often tied to named service areas such as disaster relief, youth support, religious instruction, or marriage counseling.
Grantmaking is overwhelmingly California-centered, with 84% of grants going to recipients in CA. Santa Barbara appears frequently in the recent list, including Unity Shoppe Inc, United Boys and Girls Clubs, Alpha Reseource Center, Santa Barbara Police Foundation, One805 Inc, Santa Barbara Maritime Museum, and Santa Barbara Museum of Art. Bakersfield also appears through Marriage Matters, while Irvine, Granite Bay, Monterey, and Carpinteria are each represented by single or repeat grantees. Outside California, the recent grants include Heartlight Ministries in Hallsville, Texas, and the Childrens Tumor Foundaton in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
The foundation repeatedly funds community-based service providers that deliver direct help: disaster relief, troubled-youth programming, children’s guidance, marriage counseling, public safety support, and selected religious or cultural institutions. Recent examples include Unity Shoppe Inc for disaster relief, United Boys and Girls Clubs for troubled youth, and Marriage Matters for marriage counseling.
Yes. Several organizations appear in multiple years in the recent grants list. Unity Shoppe Inc received grants in 2023, 2024, and 2025; Heartlight Ministries in 2023, 2024, and 2025; and New Hope Opportunities Honduras and Power to Change also show repeat funding across years.
The recent grant distribution centers around $35,000. The p25 is $10,078 and the p75 is $45,550, which shows that many awards fall in a mid-range band while some larger grants go to long-time partners such as Unity Shoppe Inc and United Boys and Girls Clubs.
It gives most often in California, which accounts for 84% of grants in the recent data. Santa Barbara and Bakersfield show up repeatedly among recipient cities, with other California recipients in Irvine, Granite Bay, Monterey, and Carpinteria.
