The Chady and David Hall Foundation concentrates its giving on animal welfare with a strong emphasis on equine-related programs that deliver therapeutic, recreational, and rehabilitative services to vulnerable populations (children, veterans, and at-risk youth). Grants are targeted: the foundation funds animal sanctuaries and horse-based social service programs, often making repeat gifts to organizations that combine animal care with direct human services. While based in Akron, OH, their support reaches regional partners (e.g., Detroit) and national service models supporting veterans.
A recurring pattern defines The Chady and David Hall Foundation: it gives to organizations that use horses, animals, and direct services to support children, veterans, and other vulnerable populations. One of the clearest examples is Detroit Horse Power, which received $33,000 in 2024 and again in 2025 to support vulnerable populations by riding and caring for horses in a safe and enriching space. The foundation also backs animal sanctuaries and rescue groups, including Forever Amber Acres Animal Sanctuary in Medina, Ohio, which received $33,700 in 2023 and another $28,000 in 2024, both for animal sanctuaries. Across the recent grants list, its support connects animal welfare with human services rather than funding one in isolation. That pattern extends to equine programs for children and veterans. Victory Gallop Inc. in Bath, Ohio, received multiple grants for therapeutic and recreational horseback riding for children, while Pets for Patriots in Lancaster, Ohio, was funded for veterans through companion animal adoption. The foundation’s grants repeatedly support programs that combine animal care, therapeutic access, and service to specific communities.
Equine-assisted programs are central to the foundation’s giving. Victory Gallop Inc. in Bath, Ohio, received $25,000 in 2023, $20,000 in 2024, and $12,500 in 2025 for therapeutic and recreational horseback riding for children. For children with disabilities, Fieldstone Farm Therapeutic Riding Center in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, received $10,000 in 2023, $10,000 in 2024, and $12,000 in 2025 for the therapeutic benefits of horseback riding. Wags 4 Kids in Berea, Ohio, also received $6,000 in 2023, 2024, and 2025 for therapeutic and mobility service for children with disabilities. Animal rescue and sanctuary work is another consistent theme. Humane Society of Missouri in St Louis received $10,000 in 2023, $10,000 in 2024, and $10,000 in 2025 for animal rescue, while Columbus Dog Connection in Columbus, Ohio, received support for animal rescue and care.
Typical grants cluster tightly around a modest, repeatable size: the 25th percentile is $6,000, the median is $10,000, and the 75th percentile is $12,500. The recent record shows both one-time and recurring gifts, but many recipients appear across multiple years, including organizations funded in 2023, 2024, and 2025. The foundation does not fund individuals and does not make program-related investments. The pattern is direct grant support to operating organizations, often with the same purpose carried forward year to year rather than large, infrequent awards.

Relatively concentrated giving: a small number of moderately sized grants focused on a few repeat grantees. The foundation favors multi-grant relationships with organizations that combine animal care with direct human services rather than one-off, broad-based philanthropy.
Notable grantees: Forever Amber Acres Animal Sanctuary, Detroit Horse Power, Victory Gallop Inc, Pets for Patriots
Giving is strongly centered in Ohio, where 85% of grants go and where the top state by grant count is also Ohio. Akron-area and Northeast Ohio recipients appear often, including Medina, Bath, Chagrin Falls, Cuyahoga Falls, Berea, and Columbus. The foundation also gives beyond Ohio, with Detroit, Michigan, as a recurring recipient city and St Louis, Missouri, appearing in the recent grants list. All recorded grants go to U.S. recipients.
It supports animal sanctuaries and rescue organizations, equine-assisted therapy and recreational riding programs, veteran support through companion animal adoption, and services for children with disabilities. Recent grants show repeated funding for horse-based programs and animal care groups that also deliver direct human services.
Yes. Several recipients appear in multiple years, including Detroit Horse Power in 2024 and 2025, Victory Gallop Inc. in 2023, 2024, and 2025, Fieldstone Farm Therapeutic Riding Center in 2023, 2024, and 2025, and Humane Society of Missouri in 2023, 2024, and 2025.
The foundation’s grant-size distribution is compact: the 25th percentile is $6,000, the median is $10,000, and the 75th percentile is $12,500. Many recent awards fall in that range, with recurring support often at $10,000 or $6,000.
It gives most often in Ohio. The data shows 85% of grants go to recipients in the foundation’s headquarters state, and Ohio is also the top state by grant count. Recipient cities include Medina, Bath, Chagrin Falls, Columbus, Cuyahoga Falls, and Berea.
Its geographic scope of giving is local. Most grants stay in Ohio, though the recent record includes Detroit, Michigan, and St Louis, Missouri, alongside multiple Ohio recipients.
