The Spenuzza-Velastegui Family Foundation concentrates its giving in Orange County, CA, prioritizing public arts and cultural institutions and K–12/youth education. Most funding supports high-profile regional arts organizations and experiential learning institutions (museums, performing arts centers, and a private Episcopal school), indicating a preference for visible community-serving programs that engage the public and children. The foundation tends to make relatively large, multi-year or repeat gifts to a small set of local organizations rather than many small, one-off grants.
A defining thread in the Spenuzza-velastegui Family Foundation’s recent giving is repeated support for Orange County institutions that serve the public through arts, education, and preservation. The largest recent grant went to St Margaret of Scotland Episcopal School in San Juan Capistrano for educating young people’s hearts and minds for lives of learning, leadership, and service, showing that youth education is part of the foundation’s core pattern. The foundation also returned to Segerstrom Center for the Arts and Orange County Museum of Art across multiple years, funding public performing arts programs and public art programs in Costa Mesa. Those grants sit alongside support for Discovery Science Center of Orange County in Santa Ana, which received three grants for science programs for children and the public. The mix points to a funder that favors visible community-serving organizations with educational reach, rather than a broad scatter of small awards. Its recent gifts also include preservation work at Mission San Juan Capistrano and a few smaller grants outside that cluster, but the center of gravity remains local and highly concentrated.
Public arts organizations are central to this foundation’s giving. In 2024, it awarded $192,050 to Segerstrom Center for the Arts and $138,500 to Orange County Museum of Art, both in Costa Mesa, for public performing arts programs and public art programs. The pattern continued in 2025 with another $130,500 to Segerstrom Center for the Arts and $86,000 to Orange County Museum of Art. Youth education is another clear theme: St Margaret of Scotland Episcopal School received $216,180 in 2025 and $8,030 in 2024 for educating young people’s hearts and minds for lives of learning, leadership, and service. The foundation also supports hands-on science education, giving Discovery Science Center of Orange County $63,300 in 2025, $48,900 in 2024, and $11,500 in 2023 for science programs for children and the public.
Typical grant size sits at $5,000 at the 25th percentile, $12,750 at the median, and $60,900 at the 75th percentile, but the recent list shows a wide spread from $525 to $216,180. The foundation’s giving is repeated rather than purely one-off: several organizations appear in multiple years, including major arts, science, school, and preservation recipients. It looks like a private family foundation making programmatic support grants, with some preservation and research funding mixed in. The pattern is concentrated in a small number of recurring local relationships rather than a broad open-call portfolio.

Giving is overwhelmingly local and centered in California, with 88% of grants going to recipients in the foundation’s home state. Costa Mesa appears repeatedly through grants to arts organizations, while San Juan Capistrano, Santa Ana, Newport Beach, Irvine, and Silverado also show up in the recent list. Outside California, only two recipient locations appear: Memphis, Tennessee and Arlington, Virginia, each with one grant. The distribution is almost entirely U.S.-based, with 24 of 24 recent grants going to domestic recipients.
The recent grants point to public arts and cultural institutions, K–12 and youth education, hands-on science education, and historic preservation. The largest awards went to a private Episcopal school and major Orange County arts organizations, with additional support for a science center and mission preservation groups.
