Community-Based Participatory Research Grants (Annual Concept Application)
Who can apply: Applicants must be nonprofit organizations, academic institutions, or other qualified organizations sponsoring research projects. Nonprofits must be tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) and classified as not a private foundation under Section 509(a). Projects must include an explicit research design and a concrete connection to public or community impact, and generally should involve an ongoing partnership between community organizations and researchers. SIF does not fund individuals directly, dissertation research, honoraria, political purposes, direct services, program evaluation, operating support, capital grants, or projects led by government or municipal agencies. Indirect costs and academic administrative overhead are not supported; up to $4,000 may be requested for faculty release time or course substitutions.
Deadline: Short concept applications are due August 14, 2026 at midnight EST; full proposals are invited in November; grants are disbursed in February. Concept applications are accepted once each year. Based on the annual cycle and the current date, the next inferred concept deadline is August 14, 2027.
