The Robert London Moore Jr Foundation concentrates its giving on healthcare institutions in the Los Angeles/Verdugo City area—particularly hospital foundations and specialty cancer and pediatric care—while also making a sizeable grant to a national public-interest legal group focused on property rights. Grants are few but meaningful, often directed to established medical institutions and once to a policy-oriented legal organization, suggesting a mix of local health philanthropy and selective ideological public-interest support.
Robert London Moore Jr Foundation’s clearest pattern is a mix of local health philanthropy and private-property-rights support. In 2024, it gave $50,000 to Pacific Legal Foundation for support of private property rights, matching a $50,000 gift in 2023 to USC Verdugo Hills Hospital Foundation in Glendale. That pairing captures the foundation’s dual emphasis: hospitals and health institutions in the Los Angeles area, alongside selective support for a policy-oriented legal group. The health side of the portfolio includes USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, Orthopaedic Institute for Children, and several community-serving organizations in Los Angeles and Glendale. Grant sizes are generally modest after the largest gifts, with repeated awards at $10,000, $7,500, $5,000, $3,500, and $2,500. The giving is concentrated in California, with most grants landing in Los Angeles County and nearby cities, but it also reaches institutions tied to education, relief services, and historical or civic organizations. Across the recent grants list, the foundation appears to favor direct charitable gifts to established organizations rather than broad program portfolios.
Healthcare institutions account for much of the foundation’s visible grantmaking. It gave $10,000 in 2025 to USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center and $6,000 in 2025 to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, both in Los Angeles. Earlier grants also went to Orthopaedic Institute for Children, which received $10,000 in 2023 and $1,000 in 2025. Its support also extends to community services and shelter organizations. Los Angeles Mission received $7,500 in 2023, $2,500 in 2024, and $3,500 in 2025, while Union Rescue Mission received $5,000 in 2023, $2,500 in 2024, and $3,500 in 2025. The foundation has also funded Boys Republic, Five Acres, and the American Red Cross in Los Angeles. A separate thread is private-property-rights advocacy, shown by a $50,000 grant in 2024 and a $5,000 grant in 2025 to Pacific Legal Foundation for support of private property rights.
Typical grants cluster in a narrow band: p25 is $2,500, median is $5,000, and p75 is $10,000. That distribution fits a portfolio of mostly small-to-mid-size charitable gifts, with a few larger anchors. The foundation is not a recurring-grantmaker in the sense of formal multi-year commitments, but several recipients do reappear across years, including USC Verdugo Hills Hospital Foundation, USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, Los Angeles Mission, Union Rescue Mission, Boys Republic, Five Acres, and Pacific Legal Foundation. It does not fund individuals and does not make program-related investments. The recent record shows direct gifts rather than an open application process.
