About Richard E & Nancy P Marriott Foundation
A single $4,096,000 charitable-purpose grant anchors the Richard E & Nancy P Marriott Foundation’s public record in this dataset, signaling a preference for large, discretionary commitments rather than small, narrowly defined awards. That approach fits the foundation’s broader profile: its reported grants are mostly mission-related operating support, with many recipients in Washington, DC and nearby Maryland. The foundation also supports education and human services through a regular grantmaking pattern, while maintaining separate scholarship activity for undergraduate education. In the recent-grants list, the Children’s Law Center received $171,435 that combined mission-related operations with support for the partnership with Mamatoto Village. Mary’s Center for Maternal and Child Care Inc. received $150,000 for the Nurse Family Partnership home visiting program, and Martha’s Table received $98,652 for early childhood education. The foundation’s giving also reaches workforce and youth pathways, including support for Identity Inc’s workforce development programming and Urban Alliance Foundation’s alumni programming. Across the record, the foundation appears to use flexible grant structures to back institutions serving families, children, students, and young adults.
What Richard E & Nancy P Marriott Foundation Funds
Education is one of the foundation’s clearest program areas. Kipp DC received $97,771 for the KIPP Forward program, while the University of Maryland College Park Foundation received $48,081 for the Do Good Movement Fellowship Fund supporting the graduate certificate in nonprofit leadership and management. Human services is the other major lane, with House of Ruth receiving $150,000 for the Kidspace Child and Family Development Center and The Family Place Inc. receiving $62,024 for mission-related operations. The foundation also backs early care and education infrastructure: Washington Area Womens Foundation received $70,000 for the Early Care and Education Funders Collaborative. Workforce and youth transition work appears as well, including $110,000 to Identity Inc for workforce development programming and $60,000 to Urban Alliance Foundation for programming to support Urban Alliance alumni.
