The Ray R. Irani and Ghada Raslan Irani Foundation concentrates its giving on national cultural and civic institutions, higher education, health-related causes, and causes tied to the Lebanese/Middle Eastern community. Grants are sizable and often directed to prominent institutions (UCLA, national historical and cultural organizations) as well as a small set of repeat grantees and targeted health and humanitarian recipients. The foundation’s support blends civic/historical preservation and public-facing cultural programming with strategic health and community welfare grants.
Concentrated, high-dollar grants to a small number of national institutions and repeat grantees; fewer, targeted gifts to health and community organizations rather than many small donations.
The Ray R Irani and Ghada Raslan Irani Foundation gives at a high dollar scale, with recent support reaching seven figures and recurring six-figure awards to institutions that sit at the intersection of civic history, higher education, and community service. One of its largest recent grants was $1,000,000 to the Milken Center for Advancing the American Dream, followed by an $850,000 unrestricted grant to the White House Historical Association and an $820,000 unrestricted grant to The UCLA Foundation. That mix shows a pattern of backing major organizations with broad public missions rather than narrowly project-specific work. The foundation also returns to several grantees across multiple years, which suggests sustained relationships rather than one-time awards. UCLA appears repeatedly among the larger gifts, while Ford’s Theatre, House of Lebanon, Mercy for Humanity, and Brent Shapiro Foundation also show up more than once in the recent record. Alongside national cultural and historical institutions, the foundation supports groups tied to Lebanese and Middle Eastern communities, health-related organizations, and selected humanitarian efforts. Its grants are commonly unrestricted, giving recipients flexible use of funds.
Higher education is a clear thread in the foundation’s recent giving. The UCLA Foundation received $820,000 in 2025 and $280,000 in both 2024 and 2023, all unrestricted, pointing to repeated support for university initiatives. Civic and historical institutions are another focus. The White House Historical Association received $850,000 in 2025, while the Library of Congress received $100,000 in 2025 and $50,000 in 2024. Ford’s Theatre also received $200,000 in 2025, $200,000 in 2024, and $60,000 in 2023. The foundation also supports Lebanese and Middle Eastern community organizations. House of Lebanon received $100,000 in 2025, $100,000 in 2023, and $50,000 in 2024. Mercy for Humanity received $116,000 in 2025, $73,000 in 2024, and $55,000 in 2023.
Typical grants cluster in the five-figure range, with a p25 of $10,000, median of $25,000, and p75 of $58,750. Recent activity also includes large outliers at $850,000, $820,000, and $1,000,000. The pattern is not one-off philanthropy: several recipients appear in multiple years, including The UCLA Foundation, Ford’s Theatre, House of Lebanon, Mercy for Humanity, Brent Shapiro Foundation, Islamic Center of Southern California, California Rehabilitation Foundation, and Tourette Association of America. The foundation makes grants as a private foundation and does not fund individuals or program-related investments. The grants shown are unrestricted.
