About Open Hearts for Orphans
Open Hearts for Orphans Inc directs its giving toward abandoned, orphaned, and at-risk children through a mix of direct assistance, adoption support, and medical funding. The largest recent grant listed is $124,020 to Uganda Rural Fund in Richmond, VA, followed by additional seven-figure-scale support in the same partner relationship in later years, showing a strong emphasis on sustained child and family support rather than isolated awards. Their grantmaking reaches beyond one service area: the foundation funds basic needs, sponsorships, housing projects, medical intervention, and adoption-related assistance. Several recipients illustrate that pattern. Compasio Global Child Advocates received support for orphan care, while Love Without Boundaries was funded for orphan care and basic needs for children. The foundation also backs adoption work through grants to CCAI, Lifeline Children’s Services, and All Gods Children International. In addition, its program areas include child sponsorship in Uganda and Cambodia, and medical intervention funding for vulnerable children through partner programs. The overall picture is a funder focused on targeted help for children without parental care, with grantmaking that combines emergency response, family placement support, and ongoing care.
What Open Hearts for Orphans Funds
A core theme in the foundation’s giving is basic-needs support for orphaned and at-risk children. Uganda Rural Fund received $103,795 in 2024 for homes and tuition, while Love Without Boundaries was funded in 2025 for basic needs for children. These grants point to a practical focus on shelter, education, and day-to-day stability. Medical intervention is another clear area. China Little Flower received $7,224 in 2024 for medical support, and the foundation’s program language also includes life-saving surgeries, treatments, medical equipment, and pediatric cardiac intervention. Adoption assistance is a third strand. CCAI received $10,000 in 2025 for an adoption grant, and Lifeline Children’s Services received adoption grants in both 2024 and 2025. The foundation also maintains ARISE for Adoption, a support program for families navigating adoption pathways. Foster-family disaster response appears as well: Foster Family Alliance of NC received $10,695 in 2025 for foster family hurricane relief.
