Literacy Opportunity Fund

Who can apply: Applicants must be registered 501(c)(3) nonprofits, have an Employer Identification Number, provide literacy services directly to students, be located in the United States, not have received a Literacy Opportunity Fund grant within the last 12 months, and submit a complete and detailed application. Book distributions and lending libraries are not funded. Organizations that are not themselves 501(c)(3)s may apply through a related 501(c)(3) organization.

Deadline: Four annual rounds: July 1, October 1, January 3, and April 1, with the deadline moved to the next business day if it falls on a weekend or holiday.

Nora Roberts Foundation General Grants

Who can apply: Applicant must be a nonprofit with active 501(c)(3) status and a valid EIN, or a public charity sponsoring an organization; government agencies operating publicly available charitable programs may apply. Organizations must operate in the United States, have a board-adopted non-discrimination statement, and provide direct benefit to the public, with accessible programming that is free, affordable, or offers need-based scholarships. Priority is given to organizations serving underserved communities and those geographically close to the foundation.

Deadline: Organizations may apply once per calendar year; registrations and applications are accepted year round, with a recommendation to submit well before deadlines. Submissions should be made by 6:00 pm Eastern Time.
