The Michael and Andrea Leven Family Foundation focuses primarily on Jewish life, Israel, and leadership development—funding a mix of Israel-focused institutions, campus and youth leadership programs, Orthodox Jewish initiatives, and Atlanta-area Jewish communal projects. Grants often support program expansion, capital projects, leadership institutes, Israel experiences, and security/advocacy work that strengthens U.S.-Israel ties. The foundation gives repeatedly to a core set of grantees while also making targeted gifts to policy think tanks and civic leadership training groups.
A recurring thread in Michael and Andrea Leven Family Foundation grantmaking is Jewish leadership development tied to Israel engagement, with large gifts that show up year after year. The foundation backed Morasha Olami Inc with $250,000 in both 2024 and 2025 for the Olami Mentorship Program, and it made repeated seven-figure-scale-style institutional commitments within its own grant range to programs at P E F Israel Endowment Funds Inc for the Michael A. and Andrea Leven Fellowship Program at Hadassah Academic College Jerusalem. Alongside those education and leadership awards, the foundation supports campus, youth, and Orthodox Jewish organizations through sizable operating and program grants. Examples include Alpha Epsilon Pi Foundation Inc for the Michael A. Leven Advanced Leadership Institute, Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America for JSU Expansion, and Bnai Brith Youth Organization Inc for the Leven Global Leadership Academy. It also funds Israel-facing institutions and projects, including Jewish National Fund-usa Inc for a project in Bathsheva, Israel, and Birthright Israel Foundation for its annual campaign. The pattern is not limited to one type of recipient: the portfolio includes community federations, policy-oriented groups, campus networks, and Jewish educational institutions.
Jewish campus engagement is a major theme. The foundation gave $182,000 to Alpha Epsilon Pi Foundation Inc for the Alpha Epsilon Pi Michael A. Leven Advanced Leadership Institute, and it supported Students Supporting Israel with $100,000 for its 2024 National Conference. Both grants point to a preference for student-facing leadership and advocacy work. In Orthodox Jewish education and youth programming, the foundation awarded $150,000 to Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America for JSU Expansion and $100,000 to Ohr Yisroel of Bergen County Inc for an executive officer name fund. These grants sit alongside support for Bnai Brith Youth Organization Inc to implement the Leven Global Leadership Academy. Israel-related philanthropy is another clear lane. Jewish National Fund-usa Inc received $200,000 for a project in Bathsheva, Israel, while P E F Israel Endowment Funds Inc received repeated support for the Michael A. and Andrea Leven Fellowship Program at Hadassah Academic College Jerusalem and for construction of the Study Center at Hadassah College.
