The Meyer Orbach Foundation concentrates its giving on Orthodox Jewish communal life in the New York/New Jersey area, providing mostly unrestricted/general support to day schools, synagogues, and Jewish service organizations. Grants are often sizable and repeat to the same institutions, indicating a preference for sustaining core community institutions rather than project-specific funding. The foundation also supports Jewish emergency/medical volunteer groups and a small number of organizations engaged in broader Israeli/Jewish communal work.
Meyer Orbach Foundation Inc has repeated a clear pattern of sustaining Orthodox Jewish communal institutions in the New York and New Jersey area with general charitable purpose grants, often returning to the same schools, synagogues, and service organizations over multiple years. Among its largest recent awards, Bergan Hatzalah received $150,000 in 2023, and The Moriah School received $103,000 in 2023, followed by $85,000 in both 2024 and 2025. That kind of repeat support points to a funding style built around continuity rather than one-off projects. The foundation’s grant list also shows a strong emphasis on institutions that serve daily communal life: day schools, congregations, emergency medical volunteer groups, and Jewish communal intermediaries. Grants have gone to organizations in Englewood, Brooklyn, the Bronx, and New York City, with several recipients appearing more than once across the 2023–2025 period. Its giving is concentrated enough to show institutional relationships, but broad enough to include both education and communal service infrastructure.
Education is one of the foundation’s most visible areas of support. The Moriah School in Englewood received $103,000 in 2023 and $85,000 in both 2024 and 2025, while Sar Academy in the Bronx received $36,000 in 2024 and $25,000 in 2023. Magen David Yeshivah School in Brooklyn also appeared in the grant list with $31,000 in 2024. Synagogue and congregation support is another recurring thread. Congregation Ahavath Torah in Englewood received $39,385 in 2024, $36,400 in 2025, and $2,950 in 2023. Siach Emuna Dba Congregation Yeshiva Yad Moishe in Brooklyn received $72,000 in 2025, and Englewood Torah Center Inc received $26,000 in 2024 and $7,500 in 2025. The foundation also funds Jewish service organizations and communal infrastructure, including $150,000 to Bergan Hatzalah in 2023 and $25,000 to Jewish Communal Fund in 2025.
Typical grants cluster in the mid-five-figure range, with a p25 of $19,750, a median of $28,500, and a p75 of $66,096. The recent record also includes several larger awards above that band, alongside small support grants such as $100 and $1,800. Repeat awards are common: The Moriah School, Congregation Ahavath Torah, Sar Academy, Bobbies Place, Englewood Torah Center Inc, and Bergan Hatzalah each appear in more than one year. The foundation is a private foundation and does not fund individuals or make program-related investments. The grant list shows general charitable purpose language rather than a visible application process.
