Kulturstiftung der Länder supports major arts and cultural heritage projects in Germany on behalf of the 16 federal states, with a strong emphasis on nationally significant collections, museums, libraries, and archives. Its funding is especially focused on acquiring important works, conserving and restoring cultural assets, documenting losses and provenance, and supporting high-profile exhibitions and publication projects. It also backs select cultural sector organizations and administers prestigious international fellowships and residencies for German artists and writers.
