A charitable foundation established to support women in need and various charitable causes related to Jewish women and girls, providing discreet and dignified assistance.
A $149,000 grant to Goodness and Kindness Inc for women assistance stands out in Keren Hachomesh Inc’s recent record, and it points to a funder built around discreet support for Jewish women, girls, and families in need. The foundation’s giving includes direct assistance, education-related support, and funding for ritual infrastructure, with mikvah construction appearing repeatedly among its larger awards. Recent grants also show support for medical assistance, mentoring, girls’ programs, and holiday or household help. Keren Hachomesh Inc is led by Yehuda Krinsky and operates as a regular funder rather than a donor-advised fund or an individual-giving vehicle. Its pattern suggests a mix of organizational grants and practical aid delivered through named programs such as weddings, emergency assistance, general assistance, and education & programming. The grant record also shows a consistent emphasis on women-centered needs, including support for mothers, brides and grooms, single mothers, and widows and orphans. The foundation’s work is concentrated enough to show a clear identity, but broad enough to include both service support and community infrastructure.
Mikvah infrastructure is one of the clearest program areas in Keren Hachomesh Inc’s grant record. They gave $48,000 to Friends of Chabad Tzfat for mikvah construction, $25,000 to Chabad of Weston for the same purpose, and $25,000 to Upper Westside Merkos for mikvah construction. Education support appears in several grants tied to women, girls, and Jewish learning. The foundation awarded $35,281 to Mogeneinu Inc for educational assistance, $10,700 to Chabad Girls Academy for educational work, and $10,000 to Batsheva Learning Center for women education. They also fund direct support services and mentoring. Big Sister Mentoring received $15,000 for a mentoring program and another $10,000 for the same program in 2024, while Aliyah Girls Inc received $14,700 for girls programs. Medical support is another recurring theme, including $25,000 to Bikur Cholim of Crown Heights for medical assistance and $25,000 to Bonai Olam for medical research and assistance.
Keren Hachomesh Inc’s typical grant size sits at a p25 of $9,716, a median of $13,500, and a p75 of $21,875. The recent record includes both large one-time awards and repeated support to the same organizations: Goodness and Kindness Inc appears in 2023 with $149,000 and again in 2024 with $23,000, Mogeneinu Inc appears in 2024 and 2025, and Big Sister Mentoring received grants in 2024 and 2025. The foundation is a regular funder and, by the grant descriptions, uses targeted program categories rather than an open-ended operating model. Its public-facing application paths include forms for assistance, mikvah grants, holiday assistance, and education & programming.
