About Kars 4 Kids
Kars 4 Kids Inc directs very large grants to Oorah Inc, with the two largest recent awards totaling $45,880,385 in 2023 and $35,488,905 in 2024. That repeated support is the clearest window into how the foundation works: it backs child-centered programming through affiliated or mission-aligned organizations, rather than spreading funds across many unrelated recipients. The foundation’s own mission emphasizes year-round educational programs, mentoring, and community outreach for children, and its active grant programs show that it also supports children through in-kind giving and small grants.
The recent grant record points to a tightly held funding model. One recipient, Oorah Inc, appears in consecutive years and is located in Lakewood, New Jersey, matching the foundation’s local giving pattern. Alongside that large operational support, Kars 4 Kids Inc runs a Small Grant Program for secular, non-religious nonprofit organizations doing original work on behalf of America’s children, suggesting a mix of major institutional support and targeted smaller awards. Its work is framed around youth development, mentorship, education, and child and family support.
What Kars 4 Kids Funds
Education is a central theme in the foundation’s grantmaking. Through the Kars4Kids Small Grant Program, it supports educational initiatives across the country and mission-aligned local charities serving children, with grants at $5,000 apiece.
Mentoring and youth development also appear in the funding strategy. The foundation describes its mission as helping children develop into productive members of their communities through year-round educational programs, mentoring, and community outreach.
Child-focused partner support is another visible area. In the recent grants list, Kars 4 Kids Inc gave $35,488,905 in 2024 to Oorah Inc for Schedule I, Part IV, showing a programmatic relationship with a large child-centered organization in Lakewood, New Jersey.
Its program mix extends beyond direct grants. The in-kind donation program accepts school supplies, clothing, foodstuffs, equipment, and promotional items to support charitable activities tied to children.
How Kars 4 Kids Gives
Typical grant size is highly concentrated at the top end: the 25th percentile is $38,086,775, the median is $40,684,645, and the 75th percentile is $43,282,515. That points to a narrow band of very large awards rather than a wide spread of small-to-mid grants. The recent record also shows repetition: Oorah Inc received grants in both 2023 and 2024, indicating ongoing support rather than isolated one-time funding. Kars 4 Kids Inc appears to operate with a partnership-driven, programmatic approach, and it also runs a Small Grant Program with a fixed $5,000 grant size. Several active programs accept unsolicited contributions or submissions, including in-kind donations, vehicle donations, real estate donations, boat donations, aircraft donations, and employer matching gifts.
