The John and Victoria Tos Family Foundation concentrates its giving on faith-based education, primarily supporting a local Christian K–12 school and theological training/scholarships. Grants are few but substantial, directed toward institutions that advance Christian education and pastoral or seminary preparation. The foundation appears to prioritize sustaining and expanding religious schooling and ministry training rather than broad public causes.
Highly concentrated: only four grants totaling $320k to two recurrent grantees, with large, repeat awards focused on a small number of faith-based educational institutions.
John and Victoria Tos Family Foundation Inc. gives in large, targeted grants to institutions tied to Christian education, ministry training, and local community support. In the latest grants list, two $1 million awards stand out: one to Adventist Health Foundation and one to Kings Community Action Organization, showing that the foundation’s giving can reach both health-related support and direct community service at substantial scale. Another major grant, $750,000 to Central Valley Christian for scholarships, reinforces a strong education theme. The foundation also backs faith-based schooling in its Central Valley network. Hanford Christian School received multiple $100,000 grants across 2024 and 2025, and Calvin Seminary received $60,000 in both years for scholarship support. Smaller but recurring awards go to organizations such as Living Word, Open Door, and Kings Gospel Mission, suggesting ongoing relationships with a mix of schools, ministries, and human-service groups. Overall, the pattern is not broad-based philanthropy; it is concentrated, high-trust funding for a small set of recipients. The grants that appear most often support Christian schooling, seminary preparation, and community organizations serving local needs.
Christian education is one of the clearest throughlines in the foundation’s giving. Central Valley Christian received $750,000 for scholarships, while Hanford Christian School received multiple $100,000 support grants. Calvin Seminary also received $60,000 in both 2024 and 2025 for scholarship support, pointing to a sustained interest in theological training. The foundation also funds organizations serving people experiencing homelessness. Kings Gospel Mission in Hanford received grants of $124,000, $24,000, and $22,000 across the recent list, all tagged for homelessness. Open Door in Ossining received $24,000 grants in both 2024 and 2025 for support. A third area is broader community and service-based support. Adventist Health Foundation received $1,000,000 for support, and Kings Community Action Organization also received $1,000,000 for support. Smaller grants to United Cerebral Palsy and Abel Speaks show that the foundation also makes targeted awards outside its core education and ministry network.
