The Izzo Family Foundation concentrates its philanthropy locally in Maryland, directing large, repeat gifts to health care and faith-based private education. The majority of resources support Anne Arundel Medical Center’s mental health/behavioral health initiatives, while a secondary stream funds an Episcopal day school’s operating/annual needs. Giving is targeted and relationship-driven rather than broadly distributed across many organizations.
Izzo Family Foundation C/o Anthony J Izzo Jr’s largest recent gifts center on Anne Arundel Medical Center Foundation, including a $100,000 grant in 2025 for a nurses station and another $100,000 grant in 2024 for the same purpose. That repeated support points to a funder that gives in a focused, relationship-based way, with health care and faith-based education as its clearest priorities. The foundation also backed St Andrews Episcopal School in Potomac with $80,000 in 2023 and $50,000 in 2025 for its annual fund, showing sustained support for a local independent school alongside hospital philanthropy. Across the recent grant list, the pattern is concentrated rather than broad. The foundation makes mostly modest gifts, but it also returns to a small number of institutions for larger project and operating support. Hospital-related grants include specific designations such as health minds, board member pledges, and general donations, while school support is tied to annual fund giving. The grantee list also includes other Maryland health systems and a few out-of-state organizations, but the clearest throughline is recurring support for Maryland institutions tied to care, operations, and community life.
In hospital-based philanthropy, the foundation supported Anne Arundel Medical Center Foundation with $50,000 in 2023 for Health Minds and $7,500 in 2025 for the same program. It also gave $10,000 in 2025 to Suburban Hospital Foundation for a general donation, and $10,000 in 2025 to AHC Shady Grove Medical Center Foundation for general support. Its education giving includes repeated annual fund support for St Andrews Episcopal School in Potomac, with $80,000 in 2023 and $50,000 in 2025. Smaller education-related gifts also went to The Barrie School in Silver Spring, including $5,000 in 2025 and $5,000 in 2024. The foundation also makes community-facing general donations beyond health care and schools. Examples include $5,000 to Anne Arundel Community College Foundation in 2025 and $5,000 to Annapolis Maritime Museum in 2025.
Typical grant size is small relative to its largest awards: the p25, median, and p75 are $2,500, $2,500, and $5,000. At the same time, the recent record shows several larger repeat commitments of $50,000 to $100,000, especially to a few Maryland institutions. The giving pattern is recurring rather than one-off: Anne Arundel Medical Center Foundation and St Andrews Episcopal School appear across multiple years. The foundation is a family foundation, and the recent grants include operating-style, designated, and memorial donations, along with board member pledges.
